PART TWO
CHAPTER 1
"Peekaboo, I Seek You"
When it was all over, I concluded that blood indeed dripped from the ends of my ears, since those wretched wails tormented my soul strongly. It took two whips with a whip to send the demon-like being away to where it came from. The being's decaying skin disintegrated layer by layer as Dayo persisted his harsh control of the volitale whip. It stretched longer than an extension cord, and was as black as the darkest night.
By now, the astrology shop had gone to ruins in important areas Dayo kept his artifacts. I didn't know what they consisted of, though his face pended the grave words behind his immediate suffering. He hovered the disheveled pages, some torn to its capacity. Dayo panicked, closing his eyes to calm his soul, for I've never seen him so shaken from anything. Perhaps, those artifacts meant the moon and back.
"I was supposed to protect these..." His head hung lower than it rose high, hinting that this man was no longer the mellow spirit I saw earlier. Yeah, see what hope did?
"You might not understand the context, that's fine. I had a mission, it was to protect these." He thrashed the papers of artifacts up in the air. They flowed smoothly in uncertain directions.
"Mission? With just mere papers?"
"Papers that had caused villages to burn and many people left for dead. Yes, merely papers that held everything my people and I were trying to protect." Dayo's expression was now gruff, I could tell he wanted the gravity of this situation to just slip away.
Dayo's dark skin radiated within the color of the shop's light, since the afternoon soon fell over the blankest skies. For the rest of the day, I tried to keep my injuries at bay because the human would tamper with it in minutes. Then again, he did save my life. Like he said he would.
"Centuries of work! Centuries of war and bloody battles to persevere one's culture for all of it to be ripped and torn to pieces by a hatred soul from the spirit world."
I shook my head in defeat. "I didn't know."
"You couldn't have. This is my doing. I bet it's the ghosts of the war I've fought so long ago. Maybe they've manifested from the sins I've caused in the past to interrupt my bright future."
Then the shop's door swung open faster than light itself, a bolting black sheep coming to a scene of much uncertainty. The sheep had dawned upon the artifacts grimly, releasing a tense breath and curious looks. He knew that those were important too. Important to Dayo's culture.
"Don't mind me fellow friend, Lowell seeks more than meets the eye. This right here is something I need to fix." Dayo remained crouched, gathering the lost artifacts that were not only ripped, but out of order.
"What are your troubles, Lowell?" The sheep had asked me and I turned toward him.
"My wish is to seek a group of animals. They took part in rebuilding the freedom of animals and their individual rights, but ceased to exist after their banishment from this country in A.D."
Kite nodded his head, understanding my particular request. He seemed to be critical of it, warning me, "Freedom often comes at a cost, sometimes even rare when exposed to its truth. Dayo once told me, 'freedom doesn't exist, it's actually quite a simple illusion'. Only we can be free from ourselves."
Dayo's eyes finally leveled at his quote, making a certain face. He shook his head instead. Though, I said, "You speak words I care not to listen. Just give me what I seek, and my presence will no longer be known as a burden."
"That's the thing, your time here wasn't a burden any of us had to bare. In fact, it's only been a day and Dayo and I already know you'd fit right in with us."
"If I was to not stay a stray to you both, what would I accomplish behind these thin walls? What would stop those violent creatures from showing up once more to tear me to shreds?"
Kite peered at Dayo, watching the man collect the artifacts slowly. His spirit seemed defeated.
"You can help us destroy the threats this world will soon witness; you aren't a stray if you're useful."
I walked toward the area I found the magazine. It was the only area where the disaster had averted, making this moment perfect to execute. Finding the magazine in plain sight, I highly rose it in confidence. "Exactly."
Obviously bothered, the sheep tried to hide his dissatisfaction with my main objective, sighing deeply as I waited patiently.
"The answers you seek lie in a hidden valley where dents in hills take you beyond the border of this town. It's a long journey, yes, but a day it should take a strong cow like you to reach."
I nodded, smiling for once after getting what I wanted. This information could be vital, I was willing to finally be of use to a cause that may bring my interpretation of this world to a new light. I was willing to work with humans as long as they worked beside animals like an equal.
I stepped closer to the door once more, grabbing it's handle until the sheep uttered a word or two.
"You could've helped us saved the world."
"But then I'd rather be a coward than fight for glory that isn't mine at all."
The door opened.
