Caleb's POV

I am so sad, to be honest, I thought this was going to be a really happy day, and I wanted to ask Lauren out today, but something always happens, you know? It makes me really sad to know that she's sad too. It just breaks my heart in a way. I need a ride home, because I don't have my drivers license quite yet... So I decide to call my mom so she can pick me up.

"Hey mom..." I say quietly

"Hi! How's it going?! I hope she's happy! Did she say yes?!" I sighed.

"Mom, she thought I was going out with someone else, so she left... Anyways, I need a ride home, so mind taking me?"

"Aw bubs, yeah, I'll be there in a few minutes." Her voice tone changed to a quieter one in just a matter of seconds.

So I hung up and waited impatiently for my mom to get here. Thinking about where Lauren could've gone, knowing she didn't have a ride home either.

Boom. The beach. She goes there every time she needs to clear her mind. It's also really close to the mall, so she probably went there walking. It's not like a public beach, it's actually a beach where you get to sit down and enjoy the view, and it's really pretty actually. There's rarely anybody there, so that's why that's Lauren's hideout.

I see a message pop up on my phone's screen, so immediately I look at it, hoping it's Lauren, but somehow I forgot that my mom was picking me up, but then I remembered while seeing that my mom texted me that she's here. I sprinted out of the mall, and into the car.

"Change of plans." I said quickly to my mom.

"What to?" She asked curiously.

"Can you drop me off at the beach that's around here?" I ask

"Yeah, what for though?" She asks, once again.

"I think Lauren's there, and I need to talk to her."

"Yep, okay." My mom says while she takes a turn to the right, leading to the beach place.

That's when I see her. There's this railing that surrounds some parts of the beach so you can take pictures, and just look at the sea in general. She stands there with her arms folded on top of the railing, just looking plainly at the ocean.

I rush out of the car, not trying to make much sound, since I don't want to scare her. I quietly wrap my arms around her waist, her back facing me. She has a sudden reaction and takes my arms off, looks at me in confusion.

"What are you doing here?!" She says, clearly not expecting me to come.

"Well, I came here to talk to you..." I say quietly, trying to calm her down.

"Well, can you please leave? I need some alone time, and anyways, why aren't you going out with your girlfriend?" She looks at me in a way I've never seen her look at me. She's mad.

"Uh.. Um... That's what I came here to talk to you about..." I say.

"Yeah, because Caleb, you need a lot of explaining to do. It makes no sense that one day you're telling me you love me back, but you're dating someone else. It's just stupid." She says while scoffing.

"The thing is, she's not my girlfriend! She's just an old friend that I hadn't seen in years! She was trying to avoid her ex, so she made me act like her boyfriend! I didn't mean to hurt you Lauren... I really didn't..." I say looking down.

"Well, how should I know you're not lying?! I mean, I don't know if you've even been saying the truth all this time... I don't know if I can trust you now..." She says also looking down, making me look at her. It makes my heart break when I see her like this.

"Because, If I didn't love you, and if she were my girlfriend..." I say, as I lift her chin up, "I wouldn't do this..." I say leaning in and kissing her, short, but sweet.

But she just stands there emotionless.
