On Saturday, I slept in till 10 am. I then worked a bit and proceeded to binge watch as much Netflix as humanly (or werewolf-y) possible. It was a wonderful day and I did mostly the same on Sunday.

Monday we went to dinner with Mr. Richardson who approved of the new cost that Carter had spoken about to the other corporation's lawyers. We had met at the restaurant and only talked business.

Tuesday we began closing on that case and I started to work on my own cases again. Angel and I went to dinner where I did not mention Carter at all.

Wednesday I proceeded to realize that I have an actual date with a man in two days. I went to the mall to buy a new outfit. I didn't not find anything I liked so I then freaked out some more and got a pretzel.

Thursday was weird. Carter and I accidentally saw each other in the hallway and I physically ducked to hide from him. Adrian saw me from his office and just raised an eyebrow as I made a hushing motion to him. He then began to laugh before letting me know Carter was gone. Then, when I stood up, I saw Carter was in fact still there and I promptly sprinted away.

Friday I called to work from home.

Yes, I'm hiding. I had pulled out my laptop and was working on a new case that I wasn't to finish by next week when my phone rang.

"This is Violet Alda." I answered, cradling the phone in-between my shoulder and head as I continued typing.

"Hello Beautiful." His voice was perfect. The correct pitch and tone to calm you or order you into submission, one that had called me beautiful many, many times before.

I froze, my phone dropping to the ground. Shivers ran up my sides as I began to shake. My jaw opened and shut and tears pooled in my eyes.

It can't be.

It's him.

I didn't pick up the phone. Instead I went straight to packing.

Years ago, from probably 16-21, I kept a permanent bag packed with anything I'd need in case I had to run. After I didn't hear from anyone in my pack in that time I knew I would be okay. Now I'm cursing myself for not keeping one ready as I run through my house trying to find important papers.

I had completely forgotten about the date when my doorbell ran at 6 pm sharp.

Hearing the ring, my back tensed and I felt my body begin to shift. I was that scared – so scared that I'm ready to physically pounce on anyone. Rip out their throats and run away.

Lucky for Carter, I saw his messy black hair as I neared my door. Cursing to myself for the hundredth time that night, I opened it.

"Hey." I said with a sheepish smile.

He looked handsome in dark blue jeans and a black T-shirt. He had texted on Wednesday just once to say that it would be a casual date. I think he was worried anything too fancy would scare me off again.

"Are you ready?" He asked, his voice sounding tense as he looked over my outfit. I was in black jeans and soft pink shirt, but my hair was in a messy bun and I was carrying a luggage bag.

"About that, Carter I-,"

"You're canceling?" He raised an eyebrow at me and leaned against my doorway. It wasn't to intimidate me, but in the light of my house I could make out his shoulder's flex with the motion.

I decided then maybe I could risk one date before running away...

"No!" I dropped my luggage bag and motioned him to come inside. "I'm just finishing up. Can you wait a minute?" I asked even though I was already heading up to my room.
