"That sucked." Angel said as she grabbed her briefcase. We had just finished our meeting with Anderson. While we had technically won, it was a long and arduous process to finish up the paperwork. It was nearing eight PM and we had been living on delivery and coffee for the past week.

"Are you going to meet your boyfriend now to finish off the long week?" While being coworkers, we were also close friends. Angel was from the area, but I had moved to the city from the Midwest right after law school. She was my only friend now.

Angel threw me a sultry smile as she walked to the door. Her boyfriend was a male model and, from her explicit stories, could do amazing things.

"I'll see you on Monday, Vi." She waved goodbye before leaving. I just sighed as I leaned back in my chair. My blonde hair was in a tight bun, but I took out the pins to let it hang loose in all its tangled glory. Tonight was a full moon. I could feel it in my joints as they ached to be changed.

I came from a long line of pure werewolves. A proud family of a Betas and some Alphas of the Midwest pack, my blood line was strong. My wolf and I are not so much, my gifts and skills in rhetoric and studying much stronger than in fighting or healing. Even at 15 I knew I would not be a full contributing member of my pack.

Still, even now, ten years after leaving my family, I had to change with the Moon's calling. I stretched my arms at the thought of having to shift tonight. Even though the full moon calls to my body, I am usually able to ignore it with a tub of ice cream and Netflix.

Tonight, the call is too strong.

I started to pack up my items, feeling my body begin to tense at the fight. It's my office so it's not like I can't leave a mess, but I know on Monday I will still be sore from the run and won't want to deal with anything.

It was near 9 pm when I heard the knock. My mind foggy from need to change. I didn't realize it had been almost a year since I ran as a full wolf and the Moon and my body were in accordance in their fury. My mother, if I spoke to her, would have been even more disappointed in me for "forsaking my true nature."

"Miss Alda, will you be leaving soon?" The deep, smooth voice of my boss shocked me out of the urge to change in the office. My body was getting sore with the need to run. My muscles were tense, screaming at me to just change already!

"Hmm?" I turned around, leaning against my desk, "Oh, yes. Will you walk me to my car, Mr. Wright?" This was not an unusual request from me. The area was normally fine, but after dark there were stories of danger. Of course, as a werewolf I can defend myself against a human, but Mr. Wright or Mr. Smith usually offered and I did not want to seem rude to turn them down.

I grabbed my purse and locked my office door, barely looking at him. We walked in silence down to the garage. All the while I stretched my neck or shoulders. This would be a long run, possibly a two-day trip, I decided as I leaned away from my boss. He felt warm in the cool December air.

"You did well today." His voice again broke the silence. His breath visible in the light of the garages. My body felt like it was on fire, but he seemed comfortable despite the cold. I wondered in that moment if he was from the North or a transplant like me. I stared into his grey eyes and decided that it didn't matter where he came from as long as I had a job.

"Thank-you, Mr. Wright. I am still very excited to be here." I always told him as much whenever we spoke, which was rare.

He gave me a stiff nod before walking to his car. I all but jumped into mine and sped to my house.
