the alarm on dazai's phone could be described as something between a guttural cry and a shriek. it was infuriating, it grated the nerves, it made him grind his teeth until it was done. but it was very effective.

the rambunctious blaring of the small alarm clock jarred dazai out of his peaceful sleep and he jolted up, smashing the snooze button as hard as he possibly could and threw it across the room, hitting your head as a result.

throbbing pain pulsated around your head as you woke up abruptly. you touched the stinging feeling on your forehead and looked around, brushing your fingers against the phone that had hit you.

"i'm sorry y/n." he muffled out through his laughter.

you ignored him and threw the phone at his face, but he dodged it.

"ha loser-" he was about to say in triumph but gasped as it hit the wall.

"my precious phone..." he choked out a fake sob, wiping whatever tears he managed to pour out.

"why did you even set an alarm at 5 am?" you grumbled tiredly as you checked your phone.

"because it's the perfect time to commit double suicide duh." he grabbed your hand and quickly tugged you out of bed, leading you out of the agency.

you reluctantly complied to him as you let him take you to wherever.

the morning wore on a much deeper, chilling, pitch-darkness enwrapped itself around you and dazai. it began to feel as though you were submerged in a dark sea slowly sinking into the cold, unplumbed blackness.

there were no stars to light up the sky, not even the luster of the moon could break through the impervious mask. brimming with devilment and mischief, conspiring clouds had divined to stifle the lunar rays and black out the celestial beams that evoke enigmatic shadows and delinquent wraiths that haunt the wits of the imaginative.

in the dead of morning even the city lights ebbed to a mere inkling. the city lights dwindled to a smattering of stubborn night owls.

"the beach?" you questioned in confusion as you felt sand on your feet.

"we shall drown together." he shot finger guns at you and you felt a twitch of annoyance hit you.

"such character development." you rolled your eyes at him, although he couldn't see it. he pouted in response to your rejection.

"know what these bandages are made of?" he asked out of the blue, smiling with pure mischief.

"cotton-?"

"boyfriend material."

"...dazai, i am not doing a double suicide with you." you groaned at him.

"no need y/n, you already kill me with your touch." he playfully winked at you and you hid your embarrassed laughter.

the enclosed beach was silent. the celestial fireball that usually blinds you as it emerges, rising like a glowing medallion on the distant horizon, wasn't there. the topaz sunbursts of light smash against the calming blue of the ocean, lighting up the sea into cylinders of flax gold light was covered up by the darkness of the earlier morning.
