Chapter 16
Kora's POV
"We want you to join our pack and become Alpha." James said.
We were all gathered around the living room, sitting in a circle. After being woken up next to Dustin, I thought my day would be normal for once. But I guess not.
"What? I thought rogues weren't able to have an Alpha."
"We can defy the rules." He smirked.
"But why me?" I squeezed Dustin's hand that was intertwined with mines.
"Well, you are the main subject of this mission we're on."
"What?" I repeated.
"I am so lost, what is happening? What mission?"
"Well she told us-"
"Who is 'she'?" I am getting frustrated and tired and I just wanna go back up to bed and cuddle with Dustin.
"I did." The room grew colder and I smelled a scent that was nothing close to werewolves, I looked over to the doorframe and saw Katherine striding towards us, her heels clicking against the hardwood floor.
"I told them all about how your father is plotting to kill us blah blah blah. Oh and good news I got some of my vampire buddies to help out too!" She clapped her hands and plopped down onto the arm of the couch.
"We're going to help you, your father's pack is ruthless and cold hearted." James added.
"I don't know, it's pretty dangerous." I said fiddling with my fingers. I didn't want help but I knew I needed it. I'm weak compared to my dad and I obviously couldn't take him on my own.
They said nothing, silence filled the room and only Katherine's fingernails tapping along the wooden part of the arm chair made noise.
"Plus, we have a witch." She said.
"We do?" I asked a lot of questions today, and it was just the morning.
"Yeah, she's pretty powerful too, it's the same witch who broke my bond with Dustin." Suddenly all heads snapped toward to Kendra who sat next to James looking down at her lap. She looked up to meet my eyes, behind all the dark and anger, I could see something flash across her eyes.
"You're not a werewolf." I said, mostly to myself but she heard my crystal clear.
With a sad smile playing across her lips, she waved her hand in a swiping motion and all the doors slammed shut in the house.
"I can mask my scent." She explain, clearly seeing my confused expression. I can't believe I didn't notice it before.
"So what do say?" Now all eyes were back on me.
"Just do it princess it's not that hard." Katherine added.
"Okay."
________
It was nighttime and chilly outside. Everyone was spread out across a huge field in the middle of a forest by the house. A bonfire was set in the middle with a circle of salt surrounding it. If I were to become Alpha of a rogue pack, I had to go through a ceremony of some sort.
"Everything is going to be okay." Dustin cupped his hands on either side of my face, he assured me more than once but I wasn't complaining I was nervous too. With one final look in my eye I pecked his lips and he walked away to join Carter and James.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Katherine making gag faces and Kendra snickering. Beth on the other hand were giving them death glares. At least somebody is supportive of us.
After a few minutes of waiting Kendra made her way to the middle of the fire and spoke.
"Kora come forward."
I reluctantly took a step forward not before turning around and giving everyone a last look.
"James bring the claw." James stepped forward, carrying a giant claw in his hands.
"Thank you, now give me your arm." She directed towards me when James sat back down in his seat between Carter and Dustin.
I gave her my arm and before I could even react she swiped a cut with werewolf paw across my arm. Out of reflexes my arm shot back.
"What the fuck?" I yelled.
"Quick everyone hold out a finger." She instructed, ignoring my comment.
I saw her swipe a finger and heard grunts from everyone behind me. I gripped my arm, bitting my tongue, holding back the pain that was stinging. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw little puddles of blood floating around in the air, hovering straight towards me.
"ti̱n kánei o i̱géti̱s, to éna gia na prostatef̱thoún kai na voi̱thí̱sei na kerdísei" She started chanting in a foreign language, the blood turned a sickly black. The pain in my arm increased, I was now on the floor panting for air, feeling sick and lifeless.
Still chanting, Kendra knelt down onto the ground next to me and dip her fingers in the sickly blood of the others and started painting something of my arm, on top of the claw mark. It started to really burn, the fire behind her grew in height then suddenly it stopped.
"done." She said, before she fainted limp on the ground. After blinking a couple of times, I blacked out too.
My last thought was that I fainted a lot these couple of weeks.
