I sat in the box for what it seemed like years. I knew that I couldn't stay here anymore with other wild dogs knowing where I was. All afternoon and night I waited in that box to make sure that nobody was around.
When I saw daylight I knew it was time to leave. I was exhausted and tired from being on alert the whole day. Hopefully it will all be worth it though.
I guess it's time to get going, I thought. I stood up on all four legs and made my way down the alley. I heard a faint sound from my stomach. Hopefully I can find something to eat on the way... I hoped.
When I made it to the end of the buildings I looked at the road in front of me, there were no cars. This is why I had chosen this area to be my shelter in the first place. I sighed then quickly tensed up and dashed out from the alley onto the sidewalk then across the road.
I was aware of a couple of humans who gave a surprised shout as they saw me come out of nowhere. Quickly I dashed into another alley on the other side of the road away from the humans. Hopefully this path will lead me somewhere good, I thought.
Up ahead I could see a trash can up against a fence at the end of the alleyway. I'll stop here to get something to eat quickly, I thought as I slowed down to a jog as I neared the trash.
I didn't like the idea of being cornered. If those wild dogs showed up I would be dead meat for sure. I remembered what that big black dog had said to me the the day before, they're recruiting their dogs and coming out during the day more often.
I growled, "Well how am I suppose to know that the so called 'Dark Whisperers' aren't you," I barked out loud. I padded up to the trash can and tumbled it over with my head.
There was an old banana peel, a crumbled piece of paper, and other odd looking plastics. Yay it looks like I'm unlikely today... I sighed and turned around to head back down the alley. When I looked in front of me I saw a single dog.
I tensed up as slowly other dogs appeared behind it. I growled backing up against the fence behind me. I immediately knew this was definitely not the pack of dogs I saw the other day. These dogs looked huge, scars everywhere with menacing eyes.
I felt a strong fear as the dogs slowly creeped up upon me. What is going on? I wondered worryingly. Why all of a sudden are all these dogs appearing in the alley? I didn't want to fight these dogs, but I wasn't the kind of dog to give up so easily.
"What do you want you mutts," I growled trying to sound fierce, but I could hear my own voice shaking intensely.
A muscular, large dog with white fur and bright yellow eyes appeared at the front of the pack, he was even bigger then that black dog I've seen yesterday. He smiled, "You know... We've been kind of hungry lately, but... there sadly hasn't been much food recently..." the large dog stalked back and forth eyeing me. "So we thought we should stop for a little snack." The dogs behind him chuckled.
I felt dizzy, if these dogs were really thinking about eating me I would need to get out of here. "Ha! Y-you don't scare me," I trembled. "How about you mutts just leave if you wish not to be torn up."
The dogs in front of me laughed. This made me angry, but I kept my temper and didn't dare move closer to these dogs.
Finally the large dog lifted his tail and the other dogs immediately fell silent. He looked at me straight in the eyes. "How about we teach this mutt proper manners." The large dog started toward me and the rest followed. I growled softly, what could I do now?
