Chapter 9 - (untitled for now)
Romeo wandered through the mansion aimlessly untill he finally found the bar.
"just give me something strong" he told the bartender. He glanced at his watch again for what felt like the hundredth time; it was nearly midnight already, and he hoped that she would have shown by now.
He'd come to the party for Isabelle but she was nowhere to be seen. Instead he was being constantly harassed by her dark haired friend; she reminded him of the whores in the underground and he found it hard to believe someone like Isabelle would surround herself with someone so vicious. Romeo could see the underlying hard mercilessness that was behind the cool golden-girl exterior. He recognised it because Alison's friends had been the same. Smiles and sunshine on the outside, but as cold as marble and as savage as snakes on the inside.
doesn't look like she's going to show, he thought. He wasn't really surprised by that, after he'd embarrassed Serena in front of her own kingdom it was obvious she was going to make Isabelle suffer for it. But he wasn't going to let that happen unchallenged.
His phone beeped, indicating that he had just received a text. It was from Blake asking were the hell he was. Just then Romeo had an idea. Since Serena was all about the showdowns, he decided to give her one.
He got on the phone with Blake in seconds and told him to bring everyone he knew over to Serena's mansion.
"that Braxton's place. Sweeeet! Man! how'd you get that chick to let you have her place?"
"don't worry about it man. Just get everything we need to make trouble. This is probably the one time you'll get off it easy without your daddy saving your ass. The Braxton's chick isn't gonna be calling the cops for shit " he told him, why would she when she had all kinds of substances being passed around the premises. Besides, she was too busy impressing me.
Right on cue she slip's in to the bar stool next to his. She wore a short black dress that would make any guys knees weak and a smile to bring him straight to the floor.
"having fun?" she gave him a coy smile, but he could sense that she was anxious to hear his answer.
He chuckled to himself humourlessly.
Funny, he thought, Alison's friends always treated me like dirt but Isabelle's friends seem to worship the ground I walked on.
"it's alright, but I hope you don't mind me inviting a few friends" it didn't matter if she didn't because they were still coming and chances were they would destroy her house by the end of the night.
She gazed in to my eyes, shaken and excited.
"what ever you want. What-ever-you-want" she whispered the last part close to his ear, drawing out every word in a seductive lull. She ran her hand through his hair and bit her lip. Expecting him to make a move.
He leaned in slowly, circling her waist In his hands. He saw her eyes glaze in pleasure as he stared deep into her clear slate-grey eyes. Such a pretty girl, he thought. He tilted her head up from under her chin holding her and felt the pulse under her soft, tender skin skip a beat. Building up her hopes, he leaned in close.
"good" he whispered close to her ear "now could you get me some more corn chips" he siad in a more normal voice.
She jerked back. Shocked. She stared in to his cold hard eyes for a moment before gathering her wits and pulling her electric smile back on. But it was dimmer this time.
"I'll be right back" said a little shakily
Unfortunately, he thought.
She'd been circling him the entire night. First she tried to lure him to her bedroom with a tour of the house. Then she tried to get him in to the hot tub, asking him to keep her company. In fact, since the moment I set foot out of my car, she was always somewhere nearby. You'd think that she planned the whole thing around me. She probably had, he realised. Thank god Blake'll be here in a few minutes, then the real party begins.
