Day Sixteen [Friday] *Unedited*
Thank goodness it was Friday tomorrow I thought to myself as I went to bed, even better still it was the Easter holidays after Friday which I couldn't help but anticipate with excitement even though I knew that the upcoming holidays wouldn't be half as fun as the prior holidays on account of the fact that I should spend some hours every day revising for my exams; and the same applied to Sophie and Finch too.
But honestly there was only so much I could take of listening to my teachers who the majority spoke in a monotone voice, although the ones that were enthusiastic were few and far between, but at least it was the holidays or would be soon anyway.
I went to sleep peacefully that night in contrast to the past few nights where I had fallen into an erratic daze more often than night, tonight I had no worries, well no worries of my own anyway, at least I knew that Sophie was safe in contrast to last night.
I woke up the next morning; surprisingly enough Sophie was up before me, raking her hand through her tousled hair and looking very drowsy despite the coffee that had no doubt entered her body as soon as she had woken up. "Morning," she said before sinking into the table, it looked as if my parents were more or less forcing her to go to school.
"Morning," I replied wondering if she had any recollection of our long sisterly talk last night or whether it just lied there forgotten about. "Just think it's the holidays after three o'clock," I said happily trying to mirror the chirpy tone that Georgie always used.
"Yeah, although I don't know what's worse school or home," Sophie said simply, like everyone else she saw her home as a way to escape her worries and school related issues, I shook my head sympathetically. "Mum and dad are scared to let me out of their sight now," she said dryly sighing deeply.
"They're just worried about you that's all," I said without much conviction.
"It's not like their even trying to understand," Sophie complained grumbling, heading upstairs, I knew that my sister had a lot to deal with but grumbling about it wasn't going to get her anyway, she had made one vital error; she had kept all her worries bottled up inside her and tried to deal with it all by herself, she had isolated herself at the time she needed the most help.
"Well you just have to deal with it, there's no use complaining about it," I said simply voicing my thoughts, Sophie glared at me in return with a penetrating glare but I knew that deep down she understood where I was coming from, complaining about it would only make matters worse if that was even possible.
I went to school, I couldn't bear the tension in the household, maybe the holiday's coming up wasn't such a bad thing after all, mum and dad both sat at the table quiet and still keeping a beady eye at Sophie at all times and they had no doubt informed the teachers to do the same. I met Jen at the school gates she smiled at me.
"It's the holidays tomorrow!" She squealed in an over-excited manner like a kid on Christmas day, and I couldn't blame her either this term had been a really long term.
"I know," I said trying to muster my excitement but judging by the tension in my house I wasn't looking forward to the holidays anymore. "But the tension in my house is awful right now," I said sighing before keeping eye contact with the floor.
"Why is the tension in your house awful?" Rory said seemingly coming out of nowhere as he hopped onto the wall. I shook my head, "does this have something to do with Yesterday?" He asked and I was pretty sure that if I didn't tell him soon he would put two and two together and come up with five.
"Yes, it's Sophie, but it's not my secret to tell," I said sadly, even though my sister hadn't made me swear to secrecy I'm pretty sure that she wouldn't appreciate me telling every single person I knew, (but it's not like they would believe me anyway) the majority of people would think I had just come up with a crazy lie to get attention.
