Wounds

I had a raincoat on, but left my hood down because I actually enjoyed the rain. I was nearing my house, about two blocks away, when I heard a small commotion emanating from a side alley. I was terrified, but I slowly drew closer because my curiosity outweighed my fear. When I was a few feet away, a figure stumbled out of the alley. I gasped and my hand shot to my mouth as the figure collapsed. I took half a step closer and gasped again.

"Ayato?" I questioned.

He groaned in response.

"Ayato!" I exclaimed as I dashed the few steps closer to him. I touched his side to roll him over onto his back and propped him up in my arms and on my lap. I felt something warm and sticky as I rolled him over and lifted my hand into my vision to see that my fingers were red with blood that was rolling down my arm because of the rain. I yelped. "You're hurt! I have to take you to the hospital! Tell me, what happened?"

"You... You can't..." he mumbled.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Can't what?"

"Take me... To the hospital..."

"I can't take you to the hospital?" I asked. He nodded weakly in confirmation. "Of course I can! You saved my life, now I have to save yours so I don't have a debt hanging over me. Now-"

"No... Don't..."

"I don't know how to take care of these wounds correctly! I'm not a doctor!"

"Please... Try..."

'Am I even sure this is him? He seemed much... Cockier or something when we first met.' I thought.
"Fine, I'll try. But if you die, it's not my fault because I warned you," I said as I heaved him onto my back. His arms dangled across my shoulders as I struggled under his weight.

"Shit, Ayato! What do you eat? Your so skinny, but so heavy!"

"You're... Just weak."

"If I was weak, I would've left you there and ran to the safety of my house and called the police," I retorted. "Now, how did this happen? You never said."

"Ganged up... On me," he said, breathing out heavily before dropping his head against the back of my neck.

"Ayato?" I questioned. He didn't respond. "Great. He either passed out or died from blood loss. If he's still alive, for as much as I know, he may need a blood transfusion or something. But will he let me take him to the hospital? No. Stupid boys and their big, fat egos," I mumbled to myself as I trudged through the rain. "At least I know he's still alive, unless that's just the wind." I attempted to situate him better and his purplish-blue head lolled against his back. I moved him again and it fell on my shoulder. I continued my now mostly finished track home and his head fell more against my neck, his warm breath sending chills down my spine.

'Damn it, Ayato!'

I set him down against the door frame, breathing heavily. I ended up having to break into a jog when someone asked if I needed help. I denied politely and said, "No, it's fine. I got it. My older stepbrother just got carried away again."

I unlocked the door and dragged him all the way through the living room and into the kitchen. I took everything off my already fairly clean dining table and started trying to get Ayato onto the table.

"Third time's the charm," I muttered.

When I finally did heave Ayato onto the tall table, I undid his scarf and unzipped his now-torn leather jacket, leaving him with his jacket still mostly on, but the T-shirt underneath exposed. I quickly grabbed some dish towels from a drawer and held one of them to the wound on his side with my hand and another to his chest with my arm. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Evie to come help me.
