I skipped happily down the street, not caring a bit about how childish or immature I looked. I smiled at my friend, Evie, who shook her blond curls around before looking back up at me with a smile on her own face. I grinned wider and started walking backwards. I threw my hands carelessly behind my head as I started this new antic.

"So, where to next?" I questioned with a mischievous glint in my eyes.

Evie sighed, closing her eyes. "Maybe your favorite shop?" She paused, thinking, and I stopped too.

But I still took the opportunity to say, "Or we could go to yours."

"I suppose we could." Her eyes opened slowly at first, then they shot wide open. "Y/n! Look out!"

"Hmm?" I said as I turned my head. I had wandered out onto the street and now a big truck, though not quite a semi, was coming towards me. I froze, unable to move. The crowd whispered loudly, but did nothing to help me. And all I could do was drop the arms that I held behind my head to my sides, and say, "Aw, shit," as the truck barreled ever closer, not braking or even slowing down, but loudly blaring its horn.

I saw a girl my age talking with another girl as she walked backwards carelessly. I noticed that she was nearing a busy street, so I stopped and leaned up against the nearest wall with my hands in my pockets, trying to see what the girl would do. The h/c haired girl continued backwards out onto the street, oblivious and never stopping until her friend called out to her. I sighed at the girl's ignorance and moved quickly from the wall and pulling my hands out of my pockets. I started to head in the opposite direction of the girl. But then I heard the crazy girl say something as a vehicle's horn screamed at her to move. I looked back to see her frozen in fear, like a typical human. But she did manage to drop her hands to her sides.

I'm not sure what came over me, but I dashed towards her, my open jacket flapping in the wind behind me. I ran out onto the shoulder of a neighboring street to dodge all the crowds. I was barely able to safely reach her and lift her up quickly into my arms before jumping out of the way. Another car was coming, frantically blowing its horn.

"Damn humans," I muttered. "Don't have enough sense to put on the brakes."

"Ah!" the girl screamed. "Look out!"

"I know!" I hissed as I jumped out of the way of the currently oncoming car and into the path of another. It went on like this, though the girl was silent after that, with only her eyes showing her fear, until we got to the other side. Which was through many lanes of traffic, which really made me mad.

I put the girl down and she patted the skirt of her school uniform before looking up at me. "Um... Thank you, sir."

I rolled my eyes at this dumb human before walking away.

"Wait a minute, sir!" I called out to the retreating male. "You can't just leave!"

"Sure I can," he replied, never even glancing back at me.

"Y/n! Your okay!" Evie called after me.

"Not now, Evie," I said, puffing my cheeks out in annoyance before coming to a decision. I chased after the boy, running slightly past him before stopping directly in his path. "Stop!" I added for effect.

The dark blue haired boy rolled his eyes at me. "What?"

I glared at him. "You just risked your life to save me, a stranger. Don't you think you should at least talk to me a little?"

"I just did," he responded with a smirk.

"Why did you save me?" I questioned, not caring if I had permission or not anymore.

But to my surprise, he shrugged his shoulders and answered, "I guess it's because you remind me of my weak older sister."

"I am NOT weak!" I retorted.

He rolled his eyes again. "Obviously you are. You just stood there." He shook his head, closing his dark blue eyes and shaking out his matching locks. "But that's besides the point. And you asked me a question, so allow me to ask you one," he said, pausing for a moment. But I barely opened my mouth before he continued to ask, "What is your name?"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "What's yours?"

He narrowed his eyes back, not happy to be on the receiving end. "I asked first."

"And I asked second. There's not a lot of significance to that."

"Ah, so you're saying I should've left you there. That would've been perfectly fine with me."

I stared at him, my eyes wide with disbelief. I sighed, closing them, then reopened them, saying, "My name is Y/n L/n." I then caught what I said and reversed it, "I mean, L/n Y/n."

"Sounds different," he said nonchantly.

I glared at him again. "That's because I have very little Japanese in me and English was the first language I learned. So I'm known to slip up sometimes. Plus, my name isn't Japanese. Anyhow, I told you my name, and even went so far as to explain it! So, tell me yours."

He looked at me straight in the eyes and said very seriously, "I'm Ayato Kirishima," before breaking eye contact and walking away.

'He said it the English or not Japanese way,' I thought as I stood there and made no move to follow him.

"Who was that?" Evie asked as she ran up to me. "And I just assumed earlier, but are you really okay and unhurt?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, watching Ayato disappear into the crowd as I blew a strand of hair out of my face. When I no longer could even glimpse his black jacket or purple-blue locks, I turned to Evie. "He said his name was Ayato."

"Ayato, huh?" She repeated to herself. She then perked up as she said, "Sorry, doesn't ring a bell!" But she then leaned towards me and whispered in my ear, "But he was cute as hell~" She pulled away. "So, did you get his number? God, he moved like a gymnast. Maybe even better than that."

I shook my head with a sigh. "No. I was actually lucky to get his name." I shrugged it off and said, "Oh well. Ready to continue our day?"

"Sure! But be aware and keep an eye out for him. He may come running back~" Evie said with a little wink.
