This AU is about a ring each person will get delivered to them from at earliest from birth and latest around the age of twenty. These rings seem like nothing special, but once you put it on, the gold ring quickly adjusts to the size of your finger and keeps adjusting for as long as you get older. The rings in the gold form are unable to come off of your finger. When ever your around your soulmate the ring will get warm, and when you are extremely close, it will be extremely hot. Once you touch your soulmate, the ring will quickly cool and turn silver with your soulmate's name and the date you met now engraved in it. Once the ring is in the silver state, it now can come off.
The soulmate rings appear like the rings above. They start gold, and as you have read above, they turn gray after meeting your soulmate. These ring are normal issued out around a year before meeting your soulmate, but you are never forced to put them on. Sometime, people may put them on out of curiosity, and then they realize they don't come off. For the people who never put them on, them normally means they either don't care about finding a soulmate or they don't want one.
One thing you may want to know, is that when someone's soulmate passes away, their rings turn black and can be easily broken. If someone is wearing a black ring, that normally means they're soulmate had died before they had a chance to meet then. But for the people who met their soulmates before they died, they normal don't wear their ring at all, because in reminds them of their lover's death. When someone dies, their are always, and I mean always, buried with their ring on, even if they never put it on. They do this so that some day they can eventually meet or re-meet their soulmates in the afterlife.
