So here I sat with the gang, wondering how on earth I was so lucky to have such great friends. They treated me like their kid sister. Well, Pony didn't because I was the same age as Sodapop, we were twins. Plus, I don't think he likes me much to be honest with ya. Yeah my names (Y/N) Curtis. Their is one person who I really wish wouldn't treat me like a sister, and that's Steve Randle. He's been Sodas best friend since elementary school, thicker than thieves I tell ya. I feel bad for liking him the way I do, but I can't help it. I do however wish he would stop treating Pony so bad. Speaking of, where is that fool? Suddenly there was a faint yelling outside. Ponyboy! Everyone bolted to the scream and what I saw made my blood boil. There was 5 socs against poor old Pony. They boys and I ran after them, throwing rocks and punches. Pretty sure I got a busted lip, but who cares. We made it back over to Pony, who was being scolded by Darry. That also pissed me of sometimes, Soda and I know Darry doesn't really know what he's doing with us, hell he was just our older brother! But he always yelled at the kid.
"Shoot, Darry, leave the poor kid alone, you know ain't none of us woulda wanted to see that movie with him. Besides, he woulda gotten himself inta more trouble with the blade." I said, trying to get Darry to lighten up. It didn't help much as he grumbled and walked away angrily kicking the ground.
"Man, Soda, whys he always gotta be like that." Pony ignored me saving his ass and talked to Soda.
"He's just gotta lot of stress, savvy?" Soda explained to him. It was true though, Darry always had more stress than he should for a man in his twenties. He should be in college right now, playing football and making something of himself. Darry and I were real close honestly, though me and Soda shared a strong connection because we're twins and all. I loved my brothers, especially Ponyboy.
"What the hell were you doin' walkin' alone kid!" that was Steve. Ponyboy muttered that it didn't matter to him, but Steve was angry because his nose was bleeding. My eyes rolled as I wiped the blood of my mouth, it tasted like penny's. Gross. Soda and Steve started talking about how they were going out and Pony piped in about how he wanted to go, Soda gently said that they were bringing their girls. Their girls, Sandy was actually quite nice. Soda was head over heels for her, I don't like her much though. And Steve, well he was datin' Evie. Man, that was one gorgeous broad, lemme tell you. I could never compete with her.
"Yeah, so that means no kids allowed." Steve said with attitude. I frowned and smacked him upside the head.
"Drop the attitude, kid." I said angrily. He was always mean to Pony. He just grumbled about how we were the same age and rubbed his head. Then Dally started talking, heh, didn't notice he was outta the cooler yet.
"Well i planned on going to the double tomorrow night, and kids are allowed." he said, directing the last part at Steve. "You in Johnny? (Y/N)?" Ah, Johnny. The kid who everyone seemed to like. He got beat by his parents quite often and slept either in the lot or at our place. Actually, everyone slept at our place from time to time.
"Yeah, Pony and I are in, what about you (Y/N)?" Johnny looked at me with those big brown doe eyes of his. They held a lot of pain, and I understand why. I don't know how it feels, but I know why. The same goes for Dally. He hides all his pain behind his signature smirk and bad boy act. But I know the truth, though they never say a word. I feel lost too sometimes, when I was younger I was diagnosed with clinical depression and I have to take medicine for it. When they found me in the bathroom, half dead a couple years back. Even Ponyboy seemed concerned for a while. But now I'm pretty ok, as long as I take my medicine. I smiled at Dally and Johnny, they were basically my bestfriends, and nodded a yes. My eyes quickly darted over to Pony and he had an upset look. I knew he didn't want me to go. Just like Steve refers to him as a tag-along, I'm sure he thinks of me that way.
