Chapter 28

Sorry for the switching between POV's and times! I just needed to get a lot in this last chapter :'(

Niall's POV:
I stood talking to Scotty, he had been telling me about the whole Megan deal. Turns out she fought Avalon because she wanted to be my girlfriend and was shocked that I picked Avalon over her. It was the same for every girl that ever liked me and I rejected.

The thing is, all these girls are fake. They put on tons of make up and even though some are sweet, they aren't their real selves. Well none of the girls that like me are. Except Avalon.

I know there are some really nice, real  girls at this school but they fall for the sweet guys who aren't really that popular. But popularity is just becoming selfish. I never thought about it before because I always have been popular. But now, I see those people in the hallways that I've never noticed before. They're normal kids like us and there is no difference between popular kids and unpopular kids. Well there is one difference. The unpopular kids are real.  They don't change themselves for anyone. In a way, they're more smart because they realize there is so much more out there than high school and popularity.

"Hey Niall!" A girl called out to me. One of the populars.

I forgot her name so I just said, "Hey."

"Who are you taking to Prom?" She asked bluntly, interrupting Scotty and I's conversation.

"My girlfriend Avalon." I answered proudly.

"Oh okay." She muttered and rolled her eyes.

It was stuff like that, that was bugging me. Why were they so cruel and stupid? Why couldn't they get to know Avalon first before judging her?

I didn't care about all of this, I told myself. Prom was coming soon and I was ready to have the best time with the girl of my dreams.

*********

Avalon's POV:
I examined my manicure that I had just gotten done with Chrissy. Prom was tomorrow! I had promised Chrissy before that she could dress me up however she wanted to, and frankly, it was killing me.

Chrissy wanted me to get fake nails but I'd persuaded her to let me get a French manicure with my real nails. It was the first time ever I'd gotten my nails done. Sure, when I was little, I used to paint my nails with sparkly princess nail polish, but that was when everything was okay at home.

My phone vibrated in my pocket and I took it out. The caller ID read Samantha Styles.

"Hello?" I answered the call.

"Hey Av! You haven't called in forever. Ever since that Niall boy came and swept you off your feet." Sam teased.

I giggled and then said, "Sorry I've just been busy with a lot of things."

"I see, I see," she laughed. "So how have you been?" She asked.

"Fine. Niall and I had a little break but we're okay now." I smiled.

"That's great honey! Guess what?" She asked excitedly, before I could ask how she was.

"What?" I asked happily. I really hadn't talked to Sam in so long and I missed her cheery, bubbly self. She was like the older sister I never had.

"Marcel and I are chaperoning at Prom tomorrow! Principal Simmons asked us to." She exclaimed.

"Yay! I can't wait to see you." I told her.

"Neither can I. Have you gotten a dress?"

"Well of course, Prom is tomorrow." I chuckled.

"Silly me." She laughed. She sighed and then resumed talking, "I remember when Marcel and I went to Prom... Nobody expected the nerd to be that dashing."

"Nobody likes me being Niall's girlfriend." I sadly whispered.

"Don't care what others think. I used to be a popular and I fell in love with someone who most definitely wasn't popular. Nobody supported me, they just made fun of me. But when they saw the man Marcel could become, they were jealous." Sam explained.

"I understand." I sighed.

"I'll see you tomorrow sweetie, I have to go." She said.

"Okay, bye." I said and hung up.
