{I don't even care if no one still reads this. i'm finishing this god awful 5 year old fanfic for some closure. to hell with this app. i hate myself. enjoy.}
Yuma.
Friday. Gumi had made it an entire week at school, and she was doing pretty well, in my opinion. Her enthusiasm about being here actually helped improve her grades in her academic classes. Soon enough, she was the one tutoring me in every subject. I always knew she was smart. She just needed the right environment.
It was finally the last period before Music, and the class was taking notes. Gumi seemed in a hurry to write everything down, which was strange. History was her least favorite subject.
"A little excited there, aren't you?" I whispered, leaning over so she could hear me better.
She playfully elbowed me aside.
"Shut up, I'm trying to work."
I raised an eyebrow, and Gumi tried to hide a small grin, but failed.
"Alright, alright," She gave in. "I'm super excited for Music. Ms. Hana said I could perform a song whenever I'm ready, and I think today might be the day."
I accidentally raised my voice in excitement.
"You have a song?"
"Yuma, do you have something you'd like to share with the class?" The teacher snapped.
"No, ma'am."
Honestly, it was like she had a personal grudge against me. I heard Gumi chuckle next to me.
"Yeah, I have a song," she whispered. "I was inspired by everyone's impression of me when we first met. They thought I was the 'personality changer' type, which was pretty funny. I thought it would make a good song idea, though."
"That's cool. I can't wait to hear it." I smiled.
Gumi and I returned to our notes, which seemed to last forever. After a few minutes, my phone buzzed in my pocket. Making sure to be discreet,
I fished it out and found a text from Rin.Rin: I gotta talk to u next period
Me: Arent you in class right now?
Rin: Yeah and? Its important.
Me: what is it?
Rin: its about gumi ;);););)
Me: Please don't use those faces again.
Rin: i know u like her ;)
Me: I don't.
Rin: u do
Me: Ugh. See you next period.
I put my phone away just as Gumi started leaning over to take a look. I hoped she hadn't seen what Rin sent me.
"Who are you talking to?"
"Rin. She's being annoying again," I joked. That much was true, at least.
"She's been acting weird lately. Have you noticed it yet?"
I shook my head, and Gumi tapped her pencil to her chin.
"Huh. You know, yesterday she asked me if I knew about your past. Strange, right? As if you have some dark hidden history that you won't tell anyone," She laughed.
I nearly choked on air.
"What?!"
"Yuma!"
"Sorry, miss."
