Laurin and Lyra were walking down one of the back roads in the High City.
"There's gonna be guys there you know that right?" Laurin said.
"Yes, Laurin. I know. And?" Lyra said annoyed. Laurin always talked about how Lyra was shy around guys.
"I don't know why you're always shy. You're hot, Lyra. You need to see that."
"Yea, well. It is what it is."
     "I guess. We're almost there."

We kept walking down the back road and turned onto a main street. it was lit up with big lights that looked like disco balls. There were people walking up and down the street. they were wearing blue shirts that had a skull on  it. The Rebels. they were a big gang in the high city. They ruled over the Lower City. But no one knew why they made residence in the High City. None of them had a Patron. In order to live in the High City you had to have a Patron and be at least twenty one. No one messed with them.

A few buildings down there was a line filing out of what looked like a club.

" Is this it?" I asked.

" Yeah. were gonna skip the line and go in the back. someone's waiting on us."

We went around the back of the club and leaning against the building was a slender guy wearing a trench coat.

   "Hey." Laurin said.

"You've finally made it." He said in a low voice.

"Well, we had some difficulty." She said looking at me. I blushed.

"Well, you're here now. lets get you inside." He said.

He turned and walked to a door and held it open for us. We followed him and went in. I could hear music blaring inside. We walked down a hall and into a huge room. There were people everywhere. It was packed with people dancing, smoking, and drinking.

"Well, have fun. I'm gonna go get something to drink."

Before I could say anything she was gone. leaving me there alone. I looked around and found a vacant booth. I sat down and watched the people dance. Soon, a guy came up to me with a platter of drinks.

     "Would you like one, miss?"

     "Sure, thanks."
I took one of the colored drinks and took a sip. It tasted fruity, but it was strong.

"Hey there." I looked up to see another guy in a blue shirt standing there. A Rebel.

     "Hey." I said nervously.

"I haven't seen you here before."

"Yeah, I don't come here often. I just came here with a friend."

He took a seat across from me. I look at him and see his eyes are a beautiful brown. Then, I get a good look at him.  Tall with brown hair. Blue shirt. Brown eyes. Deep, soothing voice. There's only one person that registers in that description. Kold.

"Where is she?" He asked lightly.

"She went off to get a drink."

"I see you found one." He said looking at my drink.

     "Yeah.  I guess I did."

"So what's your name?" He asked intently.

"Lyra." I said. I was blushing. I could feel my face light up.

"I'm Kold." He said extended a hand.

I took it and shook. His hands were rough and firm. From a life of working in the gang. He worked his way up.

"So, are you going to sit here all night or are you going to dance?" He said with a smile.

I didnt know what to say. He caught me off gaurd. I didnt think he would ask me to dance.

"I'm really not good." I said nervously.

"It's ok. I can teach you." He said. His eyes smiled at her more than his mouth did. She was blown away by him.

She got up with him. When he rose a slow song started to play.

"Oh. I know how to dance to this." She said.

"Good. Then it won't be hard." He said with that smile.

They got on the floor and danced to the song. spinning round and round she looked at him and never wanted to let go. But she knew she couldnt have him. He was a Rebel. She couldnt become one of them to be with him. But she kept spinning with him. Looking into his big brown eyes. She didnt know what to do.

The song ended and she pulled away.

"So, you really can dance." He said.

"Yeah. I guess so." Lyra said.

Lyra heard screaming. Then what sounded like a gunshot. She crouched and tried to look for Lauren. But everyone was moving in her way. More gunshots. Then a hand caught her arm and she turned to see Lauren.

"Come on. We have to go." She said really fast.

"Hey!" Kold said. "Theyre looking for you. Follow me, I can get you out."

Lyra looked at Lauren. She just shrugged.

They followed Kold. Lyra could see through the crowd the people that had the guns. They wore purple. High City Police. SHIT, Lyra thought. HOW DID THEY KNOW WE WERE HERE? They moved towards the back and she saw the door they were heading for. They were almost there when a HCP stepped in front of the door.

They were trapped.
