joy found herself waiting for olivia to call her, not the hotline. two days went by and then joy got a call from olivia. she had called the hotline, not joy's cell and joy could feel her slipping away.
"why haven't you called me?"
"relax, mom. i just haven't done anything on my list for a few days. i just wanted to tell you that i'm in paris. and i kissed a random boy under the effiel tower. it was on my list."
"oh okay. well, how's the city of love?"
"it's beautiful. there's so much to see and it's just wonderful."
joy could hear her happiness through the phone.
"i think i'm healing. i'm not in a world of darkness anymore."
"that's great! oh my god!"
"i have to go now. i have to catch my flight. i'll call as soon as possible, okay?"
olivia hung up before joy could even say "okay."
