Trigger warning: Blood
4 years later. Green time. 20th day. Year 285.

The forest was always the perfect place to hide. It was dark, nobody can ever find her. Her fur blended right into the dark forest. It was pitch black, just like a raven's wing. She was too quiet. She could sneak up on anything she wanted.

Smaller fruit trees grew everywhere inside. Blackberries, raspberries, cherries was always in season. Brenton always says that it was a Monster blessing. It was the perfect snack.

A squirrel jumped out of a bush. Its eyes were mud brown and it had a blank expression. Brenton says when they look like that, they're searching for food. It sniffed at the ground and hopped up to the rocks. It was placed in the middle of an opening. Sunlight blazed down on the rocks.

She dubbed it, the Heating Rocks for the warmth it always had.

The squirrel finally got to the top of the rocks. It found little piles of fruits and nuts warmed by the sun. The squirrel hopped next to it and sniffed it. She leaned over.

Come on! Take it!

The squirrel shoved one of the cherries in its mouth. It chewed for a few moments before spitting out the pit. It reached its nose back in the fruit pile.

Perfect!

The squirrel chewed at the food pile, consuming more berries and nuts. She pulled herself to her quadrupedal form. She crouched down and waddled forward. She was close to the small animal. Almost there-

Crack!

A branch cracked loudly under her feet. She cringed. The squirrel jumped up and looked around. It stared at the young kit on fours. The squirrel hopped down on fours and bolted. It sprinted down the rocks and ran back into the forest.

"GET BACK HERE!!" The little kit screamed. She sprinted after the squirrel, she was kept a close pace to the squirrel. "STOP!" She pushed herself up bipedal form while still running. The squirrel somehow ran faster. It sprinted up a nearby pine tree.

Oh no, you don't!

The kit sprinted up the tree behind the animal. Her claws dug into the bark. She closed in on the squirrel. It slowed down, thinking that the kit stopped chasing it.

How wrong it was.

The kit grabbed its tail. The squirrel screeched out in pain. The kit threw the squirrel out of the tree. It fell down to the bottom and smashed its head into the ground.

"Yes!" The Kit yelled out. She slid down to the bottom as well.

The squirrel was letting out sharp gurgling noises and squeaks of pain. The Kit went the squirrel and poked it with her claw. A spasm went through the smaller animal.

She stared at it for a few moments before picking up the still alive animal.

The Kit placed her jaws around its neck. She bit down on it, snapping its neck. The small animal went still.

The Kit licked away at the blood of the squirrel. She smiled brightly.

She can't wait to bring this to Melathe! She would be proud! Maybe she can cook it, the Kit always wanted to taste fresh cooked squirrel!
