"Hey," James said, hitting the back of my shoulder. "Hey, Princess.”.

“What?" I whispered over my shoulder.

"I'm bored~" He said extending his words.

"So," I firmly said to him. "Focus on class.”.

“Why?" He questioned.

"Because you need to know this information!" I said raising my voice a bit. "Now, Shut up and listen.”.

“Just because my dad said you can boss me around doesn't mean I'll let you!" He shouted, moving closer towards me.

"Just be quiet!" My voice raised up its tone. I looked around the class. Everyone was staring at us. I leaned my head over so my face wouldn't show. I really hated to be looked at like this. "You're being rude to the class." I said to him.

"So!" He shouted. "Like I care about the class." The class started whispering. I couldn't take it.

"Why the hell are you so annoying?" I shouted, turning around to his face. We were only inches away from each other. He gave me that same glare from when we first met. It angered me. That smug face of his just pissed me off. I wanted to slap him. Right at that moment.

"Hey. You two," The teacher said. He and I were too involved in our arguing to realize she was already by our desks. "Sit now! You both have a detention." I looked at her.

"WHAT!" I said. "No! I can't get a detention. I have stuff to do after school!" She shrugged.

"Should’ve thought of that before you started 'this' with Mr. Lawrence Jr." She walked away. I looked over to James. He had the biggest smile on his face. He looked at me and chuckled. I glared at him.

He did this shit on purpose!, I thought.

"Uhh..." Katy said, looking over my shoulder. "Who is this?" She pointed to Nathan.

"This is James," I explained. "The principles Jackass-y son." Nathan frowned.

"That was a horrible introduction." He said sarcastically.

"And," I said. "I just told her the absolute truth. You're a Jackass-y person.”.

“Is there something I missed?" Katy asked.

"Yeah," I said. "This jackass got me a detention." She gasped.

"You never had a detention before." She said. "What did he do?".

“He started shit with me during class," I said getting a bit irritated by the memory.

"Ya know," He said. " I'm right here."

"And," I said setting my vision on him. "Like I care. At least I'm saying this in your face.”.

“If it was really my face," He said. "You'd say it right here." He pointed to his face. I rolled my eyes, walked closer to him and stood on my tippy toes.

"You're an egotistical, annoying, and loud-mouthed; son of a gun and I very much dislike you." I said insolently. "But," I continued. "Mr. Lawrence asked me to take care of you, so I will." He gave me a serious look.

"I think we should calm down," Katy said. "Fury is flaring like a forest fire." I looked at her and nodded. I backed away from him. He and I looked at each other. I could tell in his mind he was thinking "I don't like this girl".

No worries, I thought. We're on the same page.

The end of the day school bell rang. James and I were in math class. He sat right next to me which it was unfortunate. The Principle told the teacher to seat him near me in every class so he could "Pay attention". As if he did.

"Yo," He nudged my elbow. 'We gotta go." I sighed and got up. We grabbed our stuff and started down the hall. "Why..." James paused for a second. "Why do you care about my dad’s opinion so much?" I gave an Are-you-dumb-or-what look.

"Hes the principle. I'm a star student. I need to be on the Principles side." I said.

“But, people might think that you’re just a good girl." He said, throwing his jacket over his shoulder.

"So," I replied. "Let them say what they want. I'm trying to go somewhere with my life. I've worked my ass off all my life in school and I'm not gonna let some gossip stop me. I have no intension of taking a low paying job when I get older," He looked at me with that same serious face he gave me earlier.

'If you keep this up, you'll never know what freedom is." He said calmly. "I mean YOLO right. If you don't let go, you'll just rot with the boring life you have." My eyes widen.

Did he just say something... smart? I questioned myself. I never expected him to say something like. That.

We reached the detention room. It seemed quiet but when we opened the door everything was different. Everyone was either through stuff across the room or standing on the tables doing something stupid. Nathan smiled and looked down at me. He knew I wasn't meant to be here.

I, I thought to myself a bit scared. Do NOT belong here!
