Chapter 5 Reflections Of The Stars
Amy continued through a dark thick forest with Knuckles being dragged behind her.
She stopped after about fifteen minutes of walking through the dense trees.
She fell to her knees weeping harshly, "I can't believe this!!"
Knuckles crouched next to her, "I'm sure there's a reason behind it princess.."
She laid back, onto a trunk of a huge oak tree. Her eyes still flooded with tears, showed fear and sadness in them.
Knuckles sat next to her and wiped his sleeves off from the dirt. He then put an arm around her, hugging her close, "Don't be sad my dear Amy. You're father is a great man.." Knuckles was cut off by Amy.
"He's not my father!!" She yelled and broke the friendly embrace.
She got up and crossed her arms, facing the opposite direction the echidna was facing.
Knuckles let out a deep sigh and stood up. He walked over to the mad hedgehog and wrapped his arms around her and placed his chin on her shoulder and said in a reassuring voice, "Ames? That doesn't matter, he took great care of you. Didn't he?.."
Amy relaxed a little and sighed, "Yes but he should've told me earlier!". She turned around and rested her head on his chest. "I'm still working out what Scourge said.. What's the Dark Realm?.."
Knuckles recalled the thought and shrugged, "Don't worry about that right now, he lies about a lot. He just wants you, and your title as princess."
Amy giggled and closed her eyes. Knuckles pondered about an idea for a few minutes. He pulled away from Amy and looked at her right in the eyes, "Wanna see something?"
She nodded slowly, raising an eyebrow questioningly. He smiled and picked Amy up bridal style. He started to run until he ran to a beautiful pond.
He put Amy down and gestured to the beautiful water. Amy ran to the pond and kneeled on the banks of it. She dipped her fingers in it and giggled. A couple fish swam to her fingers and started nudging her hand.
The water shimmered from the moonlight reflecting off of it. She continued dipping her hand in and playing with the fish. After about two minutes Knuckles crouched next to her looking into the water with a handsomely genuine smile.
Amy pulled her hand out and let the water settle down and looked at her reflection. "I miss being the carefree little girl that everyone wanted to play with. When I became sixteen villagers started avoiding me."
Knuckles raised an eyebrow while looking at Amy's wavy reflection on the water. She sighed and continued, "Nobody talks to me unless they just want to be with me to perhaps become king. That's why you guys are my best friends."
She turned her attention to Knuckles with a small smile. "You guys are the ones that always cheered me up when I needed it the most."
Knuckles turned and met Amy's gaze. He still stayed crouching as Amy leaned closer. Knuckles smirked a small smirk.
Amy didn't realize how close she was to him until she could feel his breath. She blushed slightly and whispered, "You guys are too special to be just friends.. Especially you.."
She leaned closer laying her lips carefully upon Knuckles. Knuckles, who was surprised, slowly closed his eyes, returning the kiss.
Amy slowly backed away with a small but beautiful smile. She layer her head on his chest while he wrapped his arms around her. He smiled as he pulled her closer in the embrace.
A tree that had pink blossoms spread all over it had petals falling everywhere. They danced in the wind gracefully. Some landed on the water and some on land.
A petal landed on Amy's nose. She giggled as Knuckles carefully pulled it off of her. He sat down and looked up at the sky.
"Amy..." He said still looking at the bright stars. "Which star is your favorite?.."
Amy looked up and pointed to the smallest and most dimmest star. "That one."
Knuckles looked at it and raised an eyebrow. He looked down and asked, "Why? It's the smallest and not the brightest?.."
She smiled and looked back to his eyes. "Because it's special in its own way, it doesn't need to be the broadest to be the best."
Knuckles smiled and put his hand up to her face. He brushed carefully her quills out of her jade green eyes. Her eyes sparkled with the stars.
"It's perfect.." He whispered as he leaned in for another kiss. She accepted it delightedly.
He pulled her tightly against him as they continued their special kiss.
He parted and smiled, "You my princess, don't know how long I've waited to do that."
She smiled and kissed his cheek. She looked back at the water as she laid against him gently. She traced her fingers on top of the water, making small ripples in the calm clear water.
A small fish swam through her fingertips, nudging them softly.
Knuckles heard someone yelling and quickly stood up dragging Amy with him.
He picked her up bridal style and ran as fast as he could.
Amy held on to hi tightly and asked, "What's wrong?.."
He kept his eyes forward and answered, "I heard some people yelling our names. I don't think I want to go back yet and I don't think you'd want to yet too."
Amy nodded and rested against him. Knuckles smirked and held her closer. He came upon a small cave and ran inside. He put her down carefully.
She touched a couple vines at the entrance. They slowly started growing gracefully over the entrance. Knuckles looked at her astonished of her actions.
"I've practiced magic as one of my main subjects in school." She said with a warm smile. She ran her fingers across the wall of the cave. It glowed a little allowing them to see easier but dim enough that you can't see it from the outside.
She then kneeled down to the mossy floor and touched it gently with her fingertips. The moss grew into a soft bed and had small white flowers blooming throughout.
She laid down on it and said, "Sleep, we'll both need it for tomorrow."
Knuckles nodded and laid down next to her on the soft ground and closed his eyes. 'Today was an excitement filled day.. What does tomorrow bring?...' He thought as he drifted asleep.
