As I made my way up the stairs to my house, I couldn't believe it. Everything looked the same but some how i knew it wasn't the same. I knocked on my door and waited, in that moment it became real somehow. The door opened and i saw it was mom ,but at the same time it wasn't my mom. She was thinner, more willowy i guess.

"Alexandra?" my mother said

"Hello mother" almost collapsing, i hug my mother. I didn't realize i was crying until we made our way inside and i saw my reflection on the mirror we had at our entrance. I looked like shit.

"Honey, what happened to you?" My mother asked me.

I knew in that moment i couldn't really tell the whole truth, so i went with the semi-truth.

wide eyed, i told my mom." Mom, the day i went missing i walking home and someone took me, i don't know where i was but..." Thats where i had to lie, i couldn't say the whole truth. " I managed to escape, i ran and managed to get on a bus.." I told her the rest, expect the part of me being dead.

My mother started crying, and i had dawned to something and asked my mother, "Mother, where is father?"

She just looked at me wide eyed, "oh honey.." She started to sob and explained to me what happened.

I just sat there on the couch, stunned. My father, my dad, he... he was dead. My mother explained to me that after i went missing he spiraled out of control and went back to his bad habits, smoking and drinking. He died from a heart attack, his heart was cracked from losing his daughter but the smoking and drinking is what shattered his heart.

I was just too stunned that i didn't even realize that my mother got up and went to the house phone. I didn't know how long i just sat there, or how long my mother was on the phone.

Seconds, minutes, then hours passed. I was snapped out of my daze when i heard the doorbell. My mother answered and i saw that it was the sheriff.

"Mother, may i go up to my room?"

"Yes of course honey." my mother just said

The sheriff and my mother resumed talking. As i made my way up the stairs, everything felt so foreign. As i entered my room, everything was as i left it. I took a shower and made my way down stairs.

The sheriff was still here talking to my mother.

"Alexandra, can you come here?" Sheriff Campbell asked me

"Yeah" i said

" Alexandra I have some questions for you" Sheriff said

"Okay" was all i could say.

"What do you remember from the day..The day you went missing."

"um..I just remember i had just finished school and was walking home, taking my usual route. And then I came up to Miss. Jones' house and then nothing." i said, which was true..mostly.

"Okay, anything else? What about your kidnapper? How did you escape?"

Damn, how am i suppose to answer that. I go with the half truth, again.

" Not much, I don't remember my kidnapper. And I just woke up on the side of the road, covered in dirt. I started walking and found a bus stop and got on. I asked a lady for the time and date and where i was, and she said I was in Philadelphia. I made my way here by taking buses."

The sheriff kept asking questions, and some i answered and others i just couldn't. Those were the questions that couldn't be answered.

" Okay, thats gonna be all for right now, if you remember anything else just come down to the station. Oh and Marleen we still have to talk about the other thing." Sheriff Campbell said

My mother, Marleen, responded in a coldish tone of "I know, Byron, no need to remind me."

I was just stunned, I have never heard my mother talk like this, not to anyone. At least not in the longest time. Not since my older brother. But that was a long time ago.

I said my goodbyes and went upstairs, i laid in my bed just thinking.

Thinking where did everything go wrong. Why me? What did i do?

Those thoughts kept at it all night until my body exhausted it self and blacked out.

I thought when i fell asleep, i would be at peace. But no, thats when it started...
