February 28th came, the day Damian Hawk would finally get to see his real parents. All the workers knew what was happening, so they let him skip his chores, took him shopping for something nice to wear, and then left him to think alone in his room for a little while.
When he heard the door to the orphanage open, he rushed out and saw them standing there. Two new kids.
Oh. My parents aren't here yet, he thought.
So Damian went back to his room and sat around until his parents arrived.
Elizabeth, Benjamin. Damian let their names run across his lips as he laid in bed, waiting.
Finally, Ding-Dong!
Damian flew down stairs at maximum speed, and this time he saw what he wanted to see. His parents were standing there. Right in front of him.
"Hey, Damian," his tall dad said as he bent down to Damian's height,"How've you been?" His eyes began to tear up, along with his wife's and Damian's.
Damian ran up to them and hugged them.

And from there on out, they lived a happy life. It was just the three of them. Damian did well in school, had many friends, and loved everything. His life had been trickled with death. That was just up until this moment. Damian Hawk finally had the great life that he deserved.

I wish.

Damian and his parents went on a walk around the orphanage, with frequent tissue stops, of course. Everything was great.
At one of their stops for tissues to slow their crying, Damian's Dad, Ben fell to the ground. Damian and Elizabeth looked closer only to see a bullet wound in the side of his head.
"Oh my god," Elizabeth let out sternly,"Damian, we have to go. We have to run."

Told'ya.

Elizabeth and Damian ran and ran as fast as they could, but they could never outrun a bullet. A red dot appeared on Elizabeth's head.
"MOM, GET DOWN!!!" screamed Damian as a bullet came flying from the same place as the other and hit her right in the head.
"NOOOO!!!!" Yelled Damian as her body toppled to the ground. He looks to where the bullets had come from and saw a man stand up with a sniper rifle in his hand. The person was wearing a ski mask with a flaming skull drawn on the front.
"I will find you. I don't know who you are, but I will," Damian said under his breath as the person walked away,"And you will pay harshly."
