Everyone piled in my room while my mother helped me back into my bed. Stella came to sit on the bed beside me, but she kept looking at me weird. I looked at her with a confused look when she pointed to my eyes. Eagerly I grabbed for the hand mirror on the dresser beside my bed. A big smile spread across my face as I realized my eyes were still blue.

I turned to Stella and she rolled her eyes but a smile was forming on the sides of her mouth. She knew I had been trying for years to unlock my other powers. Now if only I could do it again, but before I had the chance to say anything, my father interrupted.

“Reese, would you please focus and tell us what the hell happened at the hospital.” My father hated not knowing things and it always put him in the worst mood when plans went awry.

“The shifter we had been tracking in the hospital wasn't a normal shifter. He was a Primus, and I think he was there recruiting” I was growing aggravated with my father’s tone. A Primus was a rarity sure, but not something to have a fit about.

Jacob looked at my father with a knowing look. “We have already been aware of the Primus issue. I was referring to your hands and eyes Rachelle.” I hated my given name, and so did my mother. She gave me my name Reese when I was just a baby. Most of the time my father just called me Reese; it was only when he was agitated or upset that he called me Rachelle.

“I have no clue what happened Ezekiel. One minute I was scared and panicking and the next hellfire was shooting out of my hand towards the Primus and it burnt his arm off.” Ignoring my snarky response, he proceeded to pace the room in deep thought. “Wait...”

My father stopped to look at me. “You knew about the Primus, and you still sent us in there? We could have died!” I was yelling at this point, furious with my father.

“Calm down Rachelle. We didn't think you would come into contact with him. You were on a surveillance mission. No contact was supposed to be made. If you hadn't been so full of yourself this would have happened. “He was pissed now. I could not believe this; he was blaming me.

“Whatever.” I said sulkily . Slumping against my bedpost with my arms crossed on my chest, I looked over at Stella who was staring up at the ceiling ,obviously bored of the conversation.

“Besides the Primus has been taken care of. We need to focus on your powers and what they mean. No one has ever seen anything like you Reese, and it’s time you worked harder on your training to control them. You almost killed yourself.” Oh my god, another lecture really? Geesh you'd figure he would chill for like ten seconds.

I was getting tired anyways. Healing always took a lot of me and usually I slept a day or two after major injuries. Thankfully my mother saw me drifting and shooed everyone out of my room. Stella left with her father ,and I fell into a deep sleep.

I woke up the next day to someone banging on the front door. Moaning, I rolled over and saw that my alarm clocked read 3pm. Jesus, I had slept forever. I tried to go back to bed, but the banging persisted.
