The words stung the back of my head as I heard what Park said before I left the room holding V's hand.
Park: "And you have the nerve to think I was making out with the town slut..."- He had tried to mutter under his breath, but I could hear every word as clear as the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes. I turned around and let go of V's hand.
Arianna: "You were. Lin is a bitch who wants me to die. I guess what I saw in the ice cream shop that one time wasn't what you said it was. I can hold V's hand because he is a close friend of mine. Do you want to know why I don't hold yours? Because I saw the way it was caressing Lin's inner thigh. It hurt. A lot. I don't think you are the town slut, but you're pretty far up on the list. Please, for my sanity and yours, stay away from me."- I rushed downstairs, crying like an idiot. Although I looked all brave up there, hearing those words crushed my heart in to even smaller pieces. It looked nearly impossible for me to put it back together this time. A call interrupted my sobbing.
Arianna: "Hello?"
Nurse: "Are you a relative of Lucy Jackson?"- My breath hitched as I awaited the words I feared most in life.
Arianna: "Yes, I am her niece."- My voice cracked and I couldn't feel the warm tears anymore. I was only a few feet outside of Park's house, and I could hear bottles being smashed, just like any other day. I didn't want to go back.
Nurse: "I am sorry to inform you, but she is in Bellevue Hospital and you are her first emergency contact. If you could come to the hospital, that would be better done soon. She is in critical condition."
Arianna: "I will be there as soon as I can."- I hung up before the nurse could answer. I was numb, just like in the dream I had about Park. My eyes were glossed over with tears that wouldn't dare to fall. I couldn't focus. I did the only thing I could and walked to Park's house. Luke instantl appeared, and I could hear Park and V fighting.
Luke: "Ari?"
Arianna: "I need a ride. Now."- Luke called Park down, and told him I need a ride.
Park: "Why do you need a ride?"
Arianna: "Because I need to go to Bellevue Hospital. Now."- I didn't bother with the please before walked away, my posture perfect, and no thoughts going through my head. My expression was blank, and my eyes were cloudy.
Park: "Ummm okay?"- Park got into his car and I followed, getting in the passenger seat. I couldn't feel or hear anything. Until his hand rested on mine. "What happened?"- His voice was so soothing, and I almost broke down right in front of him.
Arianna: "My aunt is in critical condition. I was her emergency contact. I need to be there for her."- I stated with a monotone voice. One that I was all too familiar with. It only came out when the pain was too much to process until it was too late. I could see the pain that his eyes held when he looked into mine. It reflected my own. Before a tear could fall from either of our eyes, I broke the contact and stepped out of the car and sprinted towards the entrance to the hospital.
Arianna: "I'm here to see Lucy Jackson. I am Arianna Jackson, her niece."- The nurse only nodded and pointed me towards room 213. I ran through the halls, matching the pace of most of the doctors rushing to save various patients. I was just hoping my aunt wasn't one of those patients.
Everything was a blur. A blur of Park shouting my name behind me, telling me to wait up, his purple grayish hair becoming a blur next to my face. The only thing that wasn't a blur was the number 213 on the left wall above a door. The world stopped the moment before I opened the door. I was terrified. What if she wasn't okay? What if the sight of her was too much for me to handle? What if I broke more than I already had?
I felt a warm hand wrapped around mine brought me back to the present time. I looked up at Park. He looked sincere as he nodded and gave me a small smile before leading me into the room.
I was not prepared for what I saw.
