"Hey Jay, don't forget to go pick up lover boy," Jonah mumbles quietly from across the dining room table. "But I'm scared. Once we come back, I'll never be Alpha again. He will," I whisper, looking down at my plate of eggs and moving them around the surface. "Jay, you don't know that. Don't get so worked up over something you don't know for sure yet," he whispers and reaches his hand across the table and putting it on top of mine reassuringly. I sigh and pass him my plate. "Here, have the rest. I should go get ready," I say and get up from my seat, heading up stairs. Once I reach my bedroom, I close my door behind me and lock it, not like it could actually keep a werewolf out but whatever. I walk over to my nightstand and grab my phone and Bluetooth speaker, walking into the bathroom. I turn on He Is We radio on Pandora and connect my speaker. Blame it on the Rain comes on and I turn the shower on, letting it heat up, and step under the water after I undress. After I wash my hair and body and shave, I turn the water off and step out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my body and tucking it in so it stays. I unwind the cord of my hairdryer and plug it in, brushing and drying my hair. After 20-30 minutes, it's dry and straight. I walk out of the bathroom and walk through my bedroom to my closet, pulling out a pair of pleather leggings and a short sleeve black peplum top and lay them on my bed. I then walk to my dresser and find some black undergarments. I pull on a pair of black seamless cheeky underwear and a black bra. I walk to my bed and slip into the leggings, smoothing out my underwear lines and pull on the top. I walk around my bed to my vanity and sit down in the chair. I shuffle through my makeup and find my favorite mascara and apply some, then put on a little bit of Chap Stick.
I walk back into my closet and slip into a pair of black velvety pumps and grab a black clutch, putting my phone, card, and license in it, grabbing my car keys and walking out of my bedroom and heading down stairs. I go into the kitchen and see Jonah standing by the island and walk up, kissing him on the cheek. "Wish me good luck," I mumble and walk into the hallway, heading to Father's office. I knock on the door and walk in. "Hey Dad, I'm getting ready to head to the city to pick up the Lofton's. I'll see you in the morning," I say and kiss him on the cheek. I walk out of his office and head out the front door and walking down the pathway to my car, and get in, starting it up. I turn on the radio and pull out of the drive way, heading to the freeway that leads to town. After about 45 minutes of driving, I get bored and pull into a Dutch Bros., waiting in the overly long line. Eventually, a guy about my age starts walking down the lines, taking people's orders I think. Another five minutes later, he's walking up to my window with a big smile on his face. "Hi, I'm Nathan and you haven't been mated yet," he growls softly, leaning down to my window. "No, you're right but I'm actually on my way to pick up my mate from the airport so I suggest you back off," I growl, using my alpha tone, causing him to bow his head. "You're an Alpha?" He asks after lifting his head back up. I nod my head and reach over, turning my music down. "Yes, I am the Alpha of Howling Storm. What pack are you from? Or are you just a rogue in one of the very few cities that allows rogues here?" I ask, letting off the breaks to move forward with the line. "Nope. No rogue here. I'm just an Omega from Ember Moon. So you're heading to the airport?" He asks looking down at his phone and sending a text of a couple drink orders to someone named Brady who I would assume is his coworker making drinks. "Yeah, my mate and his family left a few weeks ago for vacation to help some relatives out and they're getting back in," I pause, looking at my dashboard to see that it's 12:53. "About two and a half hours," I say and look back to him. "Nice, sounds fun. Well tell him he's a lucky guy. So what can I get you to drink cutie?" He asks looking at me. "I'll take a Shellshocker Freeze with extra mint and extra whip cream please," I say politely and smile at the endearment. He nods and says a happy "It was nice to meet you Alpha Girl" with a wink to which I wave before he walks past my car to the next one to take their order.
About 20 minutes later, I've finally gotten to the front of the line, got my drink, and I'm finally back on the road. Another hour and 50 minutes and I'll be there and then I've got twenty minutes to get through the airport and security before they come off, give or take a few minutes. Then we get to find out if he's our mate or not. My wolf tells me. I smile at the thought and turn my music up loud and take a drink of my cold refreshing drink and driving this long journey to the airport. My wolf and I spend about an hour screaming the lyrics to way too many NeverShoutNever, He Is We, and We the Kings songs. If only I knew how to explain it well enough for you to know how loud it is when a wolf is screaming songs in your head.
After another hour of driving and ten minutes finding a parking spot, I'm walking through the crowded airport to the third gate where Brent and his parents will be getting off of their flight in about two minutes. I finally find their gate and wait about five minutes before I spot Brent's familiar head of dark black hair above the crowd of heads in front of him. Goddess, he's so lucky that he's so tall. Everyone comes out of the corridor and I'm standing there as if I've forgotten everything else and I just stare at his with a big smile." This is it. Once I touch him I'll know," I whisper to myself. He keeps walking and looks up once he's outside the corridor and he looks at me and runs up to me, dropping his suitcase on the way and picks me up in his arms, spinning me around. Why don't I feel anything? Because he isn't our mate and he has been lying to you all this time. What else did you expect? You're Alpha, Juniper. WE are Alpha and we need to start acting like it. You can't be so naïve. My wolf lectures me. He sets me down and looks down at me with a big smile, but pales upon seeing my frown. "Why did you lie to me, Brent?" I ask with a hurt look on my face. "I didn't want to lose you," He whispers, looking down at the ground between us. "Look at me please. I don't want to use it on you," I whisper, looking at what I can see of his face. He sighs and looks up at me, looking utterly broken. "I'm so sorry Juniper. I wanted to tell you but I knew if I did then you would break up with me but I wanted to be with you," He says. "And what about your mate? How does she feel about this?" "I haven't found her yet," He mumbles. "What were you going to do once you did? Run away with her? Do you know how I would've felt if you left me, saying you found your mate?" I ask, stepping away slightly. He stutters a little bit before mumbling "I don't know."
A couples minutes after our argument, Brent's parents came out of the corridor as well and we headed to my car, loaded all of their bags in the trunk, and got in, Mr. and Mrs. Lofton in the backseat laying down, and Brent and I in the front seat. We've been driving for about half an hour and his parents have already fallen asleep in the backseat, leaving a quiet Brent, and a frustrated me alone in silence. "I'm disappointed that you would lie to me about something like that," I whisper. "But I haven't found my mate yet. So I guess if you can promise me that you'll tell me right away when you find your mate, then we can stay together until one of us finds our mate. Promise?" I say, not taking my eyes off the road. He nods his head excessively fast and grabs my hand in his, leaving small kisses going up my hand and wrist. "Yes, yes, I promise. Thank you for this chance Juniper. You won't regret it," He says happily, staying quiet so his parents don't wake up.
When we got back to the Lofton's house, I helped unload their suitcases and hung out with Brent in his room, wearing a pair of sweats and a t-shirt that I brought, watching Disney movies until we fell asleep with his arms wrapped around my body.
