Recap: "I, Brent Lee Lofton, officially reje-" He freezes, sticking his nose in the air, sniffing slightly. "I thought you didn't know who your mate was," I growl angrily. "Juniper, I can explain," He says, turning around quickly. "Just stop Brent. It's over." I growl, running to the front door and pulling it open. I grab some cash of the table beside the door and making sure I have my phone then walking out the door. I look around and think for a minute before deciding to take off in a sprint, heading into town to think.
Goddess, why would you fall for his lies? I knew there was something up this whole time but I could never figure it out, this is all my fault. How could I let you be so vulnerable to his lies? My wolf rants and scolds herself while I run along the forest line beside the road, still in human form, but still hidden by the trees. I reach the tree line and start walking to avoid drawing attention to myself and start walking towards the small diner. About half way there, I catch a whiff of the most amazing thing I have ever smelt in my life. It's a musky, woodsy, vanilla smell that I just want to find and wrap around me. Mate. My wolf purrs softly. I smile brightly and look around frantically but freeze right after and look down. Do I really want my mate right now? I just got the Alpha position; do I really want to risk that? The smell starts to get stronger, meaning my mate is looking for me as well, and I snap back into reality and start looking around again.
Suddenly, as if on cue, a bunch of people move out of the way and I see him standing there looking at me. I take a few seconds to look over his features and see that he has light to medium brown hair, muscles that are bulging out of his shirt, and light green eyes that are staring at me. Wait what? Within seconds, he's taking long, fast strides towards me, hugging me tightly and putting his face in my neck once I'm within arm's length. I instinctively wrap my arms around his shoulders and get on my tippy toes, hugging him back. "I've been looking for you for so long," He whispers against my neck, breathing in my scent. I sigh, knowing that I've finally found my mate and we can live happily for the rest of our lives. Still holding onto each other, I start to feel a warm buzzing in my chest where our bodies are touching. I bite my lip and smile up at him once he pulls away. He looks down at me and smiles, quickly scanning his eyes over my body, checking me out in my workout clothes. He smiles in approval, causing me to blush. "Do you maybe want to go to the diner to get something to eat?" I ask with a smile on my face to which he nods to. I grab his hand and walk to the diner across the street that I was headed to in the first place.
After waiting a couple minutes for a waitress to come to the booth that we had decided on, we both order a cup of coffee that arrives in about a minute. "So what's your name, gorgeous?" He asks after we get our coffee. "My name is Juniper," I whisper softly before slowly pouring in some sugar. "It's wonderful to meet you Juniper, I'm James," He whispers huskily, though I can still hear it. "So obviously, we're both the same thing," I mumble quietly. "What pack are you from?" I ask, taking a sip of my coffee, lacing my hands together and placing them on the table in front of my cup. A small smirk makes its way onto his lips before he says confidently, "I am from Imperial Fire," He says, looking me dead in the eyes smirking as my jaw drops. "You're from Imperial Fire?! That's one of the strongest packs in the world!" I whisper yell to not attract too much attention. "Yes it is. And what pack are you from?" He asks, taking a drink from his own cup. "I am from Howling Storm, I'm pretty sure you guys were sending a few representatives that we're having a conference with tomorrow actually," I saw before taking a drink. "How do you know about that? Only the Alpha was supposed to know," He says, looking furious of my knowledge. "She is the only one who knows," I say, raising my eyebrow at him. "So how exactly do you know?" He asks, furrowing his brows in confusion. "The Alpha is the only one who knows, and you're looking at her," I say and take a drink of my coffee and watch as his eyes go wide. "Holy shit, are you serious?" He asks, obviously shocked. "100%," I say and look at him. "Damn, that's hot," He whispers, causing me to blush softly. "Uh, thank you. So what are you?" I ask and cross my leg over my other leg. "I am the Alpha as well," He says smirking. Goddess, his smirk is gorgeous. "Thank you, love. You might want to keep your thoughts a little more private around me," He whispers, softly grabbing my hand in his large one. "Wait, you're Alpha Benedict?!" I whisper yell again, dropping my jaw in shock. "Yes ma'am I am," He says, a goofy smile soon taking over his lips. "You're the strongest Alpha known to our species, and you're my mate?" I ask shocked, still, to which he nods his head. "So tell me about you, Mr. Alpha," I say, taking a sip of my coffee asking the waitress politely to get me some more.
