/ ~ BEFORE ~ \
She sat in Tamlin's office watching the banter between him and Lucien. The study had been the same as it was before—but the damage to the room had been gone when she looked hard. The claw marks on the wall, the red paint splattered on the wall and floor, even the shattered mahogany desk.
It had been five days since they'd left Hybern.
Six nights ago when she and Rhys had gotten married.
She left her ring back at the townhouse. Lest her glamour that concealed her tattoo faded, she didn't want anyone finding about it just yet.
Sometimes she still felt Lucien's golden eye rove over the skin, as if he wanted her to remove it. He'd confronted her about it twice aside from when Tamlin had winnowed into the Spring Court lands. She feigned innocence and walked away both times, not bothering to answer his other question: Where is Elain?
A light knock sounds at the double doors, cutting through her thoughts just as Ianthe breezes in the room like pollen in the wind, "High Lord, Lady," she acknowledged them both, "Emissary." She purrs toward Lucien.
"Is there something you need?" Tamlin asks impatiently .
"I wanted to see how Feyre was doing after..."
After you gave Hybern my sisters.
"...Well Feyre?"
Ice cools the fire starting in her veins as light blinds the dark, "Sorry?"
"I asked if you wanted to come with me to the Temple. I—"
"No thank you. I'll... pass."
Ianthe's face falls a bit before she masks it. "I'm sorry about your sisters, Feyre—"
"Are you done giving us this fake shit? Because I'm pretty sure it's time for you to leave." Lucien snaps.
Tamlin braces his hands on the table opposite of her, getting ready to spring between him and Ianthe, "Lucien." he warns.
"You saw what he did to Feyre's sisters Tam. You know something like that cannot be ignored." He glares murder at the priestess until he goes back to his corner of the room, "Why is she still here anyway?"
"You made a deal with Hybern and now we have to hold our end." Feyre says almost mechanically.
"How exactly would you know that?"
Feyre raises an eyebrow and laces her fingers in her lap, "Let's just say my memory isn't all the way corrupted." She then stands and looks at Ianthe, "I will not forget what you have done to my sisters, Priestess. I trusted you, and you've lost it the moment you sided with Hybern." She could've sworn a gust of wind had shuttered in response outside as she made her way out of the room.
She didn't bother to tell them where she was going—she was pretty sure they'd find out anyways.
The flowery smell of Spring invaded her nostrils as she walked through the archways of the garden.
There were... places she still hasn't been allowed to go. She tried asking(more like pathetically begging) Tamlin to let her go with them during patrols—to no avail, of course.
So then she was left with her thoughts and snips of conversations with her mate, the occasional painting urge, Lucien bugging her with questions, Ianthe's pointless checkups and the wsnt to go home.
The gravel crunches lightly under her feet as she walks aimlessly and slow. Her thumb lightly brushes the concealed tattoo—proof that she is High Lady of Night.
She sends a loving caress down the bond, just as one hits her square in the chest...
Just before a dagger is placed at her neck.
Yea... I know. Its short. But... After is coming.
•Kingdom of Ash is in the aftermath like maybe... Six years?
•This is after ACOMAF, so ACOWAR plot doesn't really exist. But some things do, and then don't...
