On the other side of the cafeteria where no one else could see them, Seokjin and Jungkook talked.
"What happened this time?" The elder asked softly.
Jungkook refused to look him in the eyes when he said, "Yoongi and I partnered up for a project, and Yoongi didn't want me over at his place, so we went to mine. My dad saw him pull out of the d-driveway, a-and...he-"
Seokjin interrupted gently, putting his hand up to stop the younger. "It's ok, Kookie. I get the gist. But why would you partner up with Yoongi? After yesterday, I thought you'd try and avoid him like the plague."
"I didn't want to partner with anyone at all. But I saw Yoongi standing there. His white was shaking and thin; I could tell he was nervous and scared. I felt bad, and I kind of just asked without thinking."
Seokjin nodded, understanding. Jungkook always placed others before him without a second thought, even if it could be detrimental. "Well, you sure seemed more comfortable with him today. You sat right down next to him without a moment's hesitation. Did something else happen yesterday?"
Jungkook began to blush slightly, thinking back to calming Yoongi down, then having the older sleeping on him. "N-No. Not really."
Seokjin smirked. "Are you so sure about that? You always tell me everything, what's so different now?"
Jungkook quickly told him everything. He didn't leave out a single detail, which he kind of regretted. Seokjin started to smile brightly. "You think he's cute?"
The boy groaned. "Out of that entire story, and that's the one thing you pick out?"
"Of course it is! My little baby has a crush~" The older cooed, pinching at Jungkook's good cheek.
Jungkook shrugged him off. "I-It's not a crush! It was just kinda cute when his eyebrows scrunched together when thinking and he bit his lip a little bit-"
"Oh my god, Jungkook. I wish you could hear yourself right now. You totally have a crush on him!"
"Shut up, hyung!"
"What else did he do that you thought was cute?"
Jungkook shrugged and looked down. "Nothing really... After he calmed down from his panic attack, he kinda just laid on me and fell asleep-"
"Are you sure you two aren't dating yet?"
"Hyung!"
Seokjin chuckled, raising his hands in mock defeat. "Alright, alright. But just know that when you two get together, I'll be saying-"
"'I told you so,'" the younger mocked. "Yeah, but it isn't going to happen. And you know, I could say the same about you and...the one guy you always mention. His name starts with an...M? Or an N?"
Seokjin rolled his eyes, but Jungkook didn't miss that blush forming on the elder's cheek. "Whatever. Namjoon is just my roomate. But anyways, what are you going to do now?"
"I guess...I'll just have to make sure he leaves sooner? I don't know. He put security cameras in the house, so he'll be able to see Yoongi come in and out. I don't know what else to do besides just take it until the project is over."
"And how long will that take?"
"Um, the first sample recording is due in two weeks, and the final recording maybe another two after that? So probably about a month."
Seokjin winced. "Jungkook, you can't do that to yourself-"
"Jin, I'm used to it-"
"But you shouldn't be."
"-and after this project is over, it'll space out again."
"Jungkook, you know you don't have to live there anymore? You're eighteen now, you can come live with me and Namjoon for a while, or I'm sure Tae would even love to have his best friend with him!"
"Hyung, we've talked about this before... I can't just leave him."
Seokjin raised his voice. "What do you mean, you can't just leave him?!"
"His my father-"
"That beats you on a regular basis? That doesn't let anyone over so that you won't get close to them and 'hurt' them? What kind of bullshit it that?"
He burned a deep, crimson red, letting Jungkook how truly and utterly pissed his hyung really was. "Hyung... I-I... I just can't right now. I know there's going to be a time where I'll need to leave, but right now... He pays for my food, he pays for college, he pays for everything else..."
Seokjin sighed, running his hands down his face in exasperation. "Jungkook. He's already paid for two years of the college, the other two you got with a scholarship. If you live with me, I always have food. Namjoon and I always pay the bills on time, we-"
"I don't want to hurt you..." Jungkook whispered. "I can't just feed off of you like a leach. I can't take advantage of you like that."
Seokjin looked at him in surprise. "You would not hurt me by living with me! And it's not taking advantage if this is what I'm proposing! At this point, you'll be dead before you graduate college-"
"Hyung!"
Jungkook was on the verge of crying now. Tears dripped down his face, and he wiped them away angrily. Seokjin sighed sadly, realizing the harsh truth of his words.
Gingerly, he wiped his thumbs across the younger's cheeks to rid the tears. "I'm sorry, Jungkook. I know this is a sensitive topic. I just want you to be safe. You understand that, right?"
Jungkook nodded meekly. He and Seokjin had had this conversation many times before, but each time, he still felt unprepared. Each time, it still seemed hit him harder than the time before.
And he knew Seokjin was right. He really did need to get out of that house, but there was always that little voice nagging at the back of his head:
It's your father. He's keeping you there for a good reason. You hurt people. He doesn't want you doing that.
Jungkook didn't want to, but every time he heard it, he believed it. "Are we done here?" He asked bitterly.
Seokjin sighed and stood. "Yeah. Let's go back."
