After a few more minutes of rest, there was a blast. I shot up and grabbed my blaster. Kix ran in and grabbed my armor. "Kix! What's going on?" He ran up to me and pulled me up from the bed. "The Separatists are closing in. I've gotten all the critically injured men out of here." "Why didn't you wake me?!" "I didn't know they would get this close! Come on, we've got to get you out of here!" He finished putting my stomach armor on and gave me my pistols before leading me out.

We ran to the main wing of the medbay tent to see other injured men being led out. I saw one clone having difficulty walking, so I ran over him and helped him up. "Thank you Captain." He panted out. I just nodded and walked him over to the gunships waiting. I gave him to another clone and helped others on as well. I walked into the tent to make sure everything was good. Kix ran up. "Captain, we've got to go. There's nothing more we can do here." I grunted. "I hate leaving my men out there." I patted my shoulder. "I know, but your no good to them, Cody, or the little 'un if you get hurt or dead." I sighed and nodded before turning with him to the gunship.

Suddenly I heard clanking and beeping. I turned around to see an explosive on the ground. "Everyone, get down!" I shouted, but it was too late. The bomb went off and the tent exploded. Kix and I flew to the ground, and I fell unconscious. I woke up a few minutes later panting and groaning. I tried to lift myself up, but groaned at the pain in my arm and leg. I shook my head to try and think clearly. I hope the baby's okay.

I shot up. The baby! I looked down to see my stomach had magically been unharmed, and I placed my injured arm on top of it in relief. "I pray to the gods you're alright." I looked around to try and find Kix, but he wasn't anywhere to be found. "Kix!" I yelled, but ended up coughing from the dust. "Kix!" I tried again, this time I got a reply back. "Rex!" It was muffled, so that meant Kix was further away.

I moved to haul myself up, but froze when I heard something. Footsteps. Metal footsteps. I looked around frantically and see the silhouette of clankers marching into what was left of the tent. I quickly grabbed my pistol, ready to shoot. I felt dizzy from the loss of blood in my arm and leg, but shook it off. I needed to focus.

The droids got closer and closer, and I tightened my arm around my stomach. Soon, I was facing the metal legs that stopped right in front of me. They looked down at me and nodded. "This is the clone Count Dooku's looking for. Let's take him." They pointed their guns at me and my breath hitched. They were about to shoot when suddenly they were shot down. Through the cloud of dust, Fives and Echo appeared, but with another figure.

I nearly cried when I saw the unmistakable orange armor and shoulder antenna I could spot a mile away. "Cody..." He took off his helmet and wrapped me tightly in his arms. "Rex! I'm so sorry. I was going to call, but I wasn't in a good service area." I just wrapped my good arm around him and cried. We stayed like that until he pulled away to wipe my tears. He then looked down at my arm and leg. "Oh my god...we need to get you to a medical station." I shook my head quickly. "N-No! I can't!" He got confused. "Why? Rex, you need medical treatment." I shook my head and started hyperventilating. "K-Kix! Only Kix!" They couldn't see my bump. They'll think I'm a freak! Cody grabbed me and instantly tried to calm me down. "Rex, Kix was found, but he's got a fractured arm. He'll need help too." I kept hyperventilating, but it was getting bad. "I-I c-can't! Th-They...c-can't...f-freak!...I-I..." Cody pressed my head against his shoulder and rubbed my back. "Rex, I need you to calm down for me. You're going to be alright. Rex baby, look at me. Calm down. Take deep breaths. Watch me."

I looked up at his eyes and repeated his breathing while Echo and Fives grabbed something. I finally calmed down and smiled tiredly at Cody. "You're back." He smiled back and kissed me softly. "Yes I am." "I've got a surprise to tell you." He chuckled. "Just rest, you can tell me when you're better." I felt a needle prick my neck.
