Chapter Nineteen: My father tried to sell Hunter online
Katerina's POV
I lunged forward dropping all my papers. My outstretched hand manged to catch it just in time as it touched the floor. I let out a sigh of relief and dusted the book before returning it back to its rightful place on the shelf. Nevada looked at me with an amused expression.
"What?" I asked.
"That was more dramatic then James Bond diving for a gun. It's an f*cking book." She replied.
"All books are sacred and should be treated with the utmost respect" I returned, bending down to pick up my papers.
"It's made out of dead trees."
"Those trees sacrificed their lives for our knowledge. The very least we could do is honour their deaths"
"You...you're...I honestly don't know what to say" Nevada shakes her head and turns back to the rows of books. Currently we were in the library. School had finished an hour ago; I stayed back researching for a paper that wasn't due for another two months. Nevada had seen me and tagged along.
"What are we doing here again?" Nevada asked for the 14th time since we stepped in.
"I told you I want look into as much information as I can for our history assignment." I pulled out another book from the shelf and flipped through it.
"That isn't due for like another whole year" she exclaimed.
"Two months. It's due in two months. We won't be here next year" I clarified for her.
"Oh. Well Mr Petra said we don't have to worry about it now."
"I know. But I...I just like being on top of things you know" I added the book to my pile.
Nevada chuckled, "I bet Hunter loves that."
"Why would Hunter like that?" I frowned.
"No reason. Anyway are you finished now?"
"Almost. I just need to search for one more book," I reached up to the top shelf, when from my peripheral vision I see a flash and the sound of a camera.
Nevada clicked her tongue in annoyance and forcefully shoved a book back into the shelf, "I swear to Mother Theresa, the next person who tries to take a picture is gonna go flying through these shelves."
I chuckled at her, "You can't blame them. You're like a celebrity here."
Astonishment. Surprise. Shock. Were the three main reactions. I think I even saw someone faint. It was just like something straight out of a movie. When the main character enters the room, and everybody just freezes up and stares, watching their every movement. It was made even more hilarious with Nevada's awkwardness. She glared at everyone and anyone who dared to stare at her any longer than two seconds. People quickly scurried away, making room for her. The librarian, Mrs Ferdinand had to take her glasses off and clean them a couple of times before she realised that it was indeed Nevada Adams in the flesh. And it didn't stop there; every now and then students would attempt to discreetly take a picture of the infamous 'bad girl'. They've been following her around ever since.
"Celebrity my foot. They just want a picture to post and lies to spread in order to pass time" She rolled her eyes.
"I could just imagine the captions." I said walking to the next row, "Omg I can't believe my eyes. Nevada Adams in the LIBRARY?! Hashtag is the world ending? Hashtag somebody call the police. Hashtag this is a scandal!" I giggled. "When exactly was the last time you step foot in the library?"
