Chapter Twenty-One: I'm not ignoring you. I'm just refusing to acknowledge you.

Katerina's POV

She was ignoring me. My calls. My texts. My emails. I tried tweeting her, facebooking her, poking her, sending Farmville requests. I even got Hunter to deliver a letter from me! Was it so bad that I knew?

I mean sure, it wasn't that obvious until Marcel pointed it out and I started connecting the dots. Sure, I would never have guessed it was Gray. You could have given me a million guesses and I still wouldn't have thought it would be him.

The first warning bell rang as I closed my locker. English Literature – my favourite subject. The halls began emptying out as everybody rushed to class. After what happened with Mr Oldman, I told myself I would never be late to class again. I walked quickly trying to get to my destination, when a mane of rich auburn hair belonging to a certain girl caught my eye. A certain girl who was pushing a boy up against some lockers. I was about to call out, but I remembered how fast she ran the last time I did. So instead I hurried quietly to relieve the poor boy from his tormentor.

As always she was dressed in black from head to toe. Black jacket. Black boots. Black jeans. But oh wait, was that a flash of gray I see peeking from her jacket? When it came down to it, Nevada and Hunter had a somewhat similar...fashion taste. What was it with their obsession with the colour black?

I tried taking Hunter shopping once. But everything he picked was black. Every time I suggested another colour, he would always drift towards the colour black. I mean, I have nothing against the colour. It's nice wearing it every now and then. But to be surrounded by it all the time? It was quite depressing. I didn't know if it was to show the world of their self-proclaimed titles of being rebels against society or because they were both colour blind. I'll have to worry about that later.

"Hey Nevada" I say slightly tapping her shoulder.

She turned around so quickly.

Too quickly.

I doubled over as she swung her elbow into my stomach. I fell backwards on the impact, my books spilling everywhere.

"F*ck!" She exclaimed, "It's you! What the f*ck is the matter with you? Why would you jump on me like that?!" She hurried over to help me when all of a sudden she was shoved out of the way.

A blue arm encircled my waist and carefully helped me up. They then bent down to pick up my discarded books.

"Are you okay, Katerina? Do you want to go to the nurse's office?" He held on to me, making sure I didn't fall over.

"I-I-I'm fine. Th-thank you" I looked up to see the face of Noah Pierce.

The complete and total opposite of Hunter Goulding. Literally. From his sandy blonde hair, to his light blue eyes and his kind demeanour, he was Oakland High's 'golden boy'.

Yes he was a jock.

Yes he liked to play football.

Yes his family were rich.

And yes he was what girls would call 'hot'.

But Noah Pierce was one of the nicest persons I have ever known. He wasn't like the conventional story type jocks who bullied those inferior to him. He didn't trip up every nerd who walked past him. Or hoot at every girl with a short skirt. Noah, was the kind of person who stayed back to help a teacher clear up the classroom, or find time in his busy schedule to tutor those who needed it or sometimes volunteer at the animal shelter. Noah was nice. He was nice.
