Now that you some what know the "alphabet" You can get the second part of it.

Have you ever seen a hiragana character with a small circle or 2 lines on the character and thought, what in the world is that? Well those things are what you call tentens and maru.
tentens being the 2 lines and maru, with means circle.

But the cool thing about these are that not every single one of the characters have those. Only a few rows do. Here are the ones...

K turns to G with tenten

が- ga
ぎ- gi, like gee-se
ぐ-gu
げ-ge , like ge-tto
ご-go

S turns to Z

ざ- za
じ- ji , like jee-p
ず- zu
ぜ-ze
ぞ-zo

T turns to D

だ-da
ぢ-di, like dee-p
づ-du
で-de
ど- do, like do re me.....

H turns to B

ば- ba
び- bi, like bee
ぶ- bu
べ- be, like be-ll
ぼ- bo

H can also turn to P with maru
ぱ- pa
ぴ- pi , like people
ぷ- pu
ぺ- pe , like pet
ぽ- po

As you can notice, those symbols change the way the original character sounds. It still has the same vowels, just different consonants before them.

きょ kyo (ki×yo)
きゃkya (ki × ya)
きゅkyu (ki ×yu)
じゅ-jyu (ji ×yu)
じょjyo (ji ×yu)
じゃjyu (Hi ×ya)

But we won't get too in dept with those . if you wanna learn those just let me know and I'll figure something out :))
