RECAP:

Everly (main character), and Sam (BFF) meet Holden (who is he?) and Adrian, the asshole that Everly absolutely hates. Except... plot twist, Sam knows the both of them, and Everly has no idea why? Class starts before they have a chance to figure things out! Sam's family is really screwed up, and she's sad about it. Her dad's an alcoholic, and her mom's just sick. Everly's on her period, and throwing up. She's also feeling pissed at her mom and feeling bad for Mikayla.

SINCE SCHEDULES WERE MAILED out early, Everly headed to her class without much trouble. She did find, however, trouble waiting for her near the door of her homeroom. In addition to trouble, she found twenty other students waiting outside.

Her eyes zeroed in on Adrian who was lazily talking to Thalia Jefferson. Everly rolled her eyes as she discreetly watched them flirt. She was determined to avoid him.

Everly had no problem finding a distraction. Ryan, once an important person to her, was now just a dirty stain of Everly's past life. However, Ryan was so hopelessly clueless about Everly's repulsion against him. She found it quite ironic as he seemingly knew everything and everyone at Kentington. He was great at reading people to find secrets. But Everly was better at hiding to keep them.

"Hey Regina," she said, walking up to him casually. You could guess why Everly (had once) sarcastically called Ryan that.

"Everly Kiannon Briar!" Ryan said in a low, heart-melting way that almost any girl could fall in love with. Everly, fortunately, was immune.

"I've missed you so much," Everly cooed.

"It's been so long!" Ryan shouted over the chaos that only twenty high schoolers could make. "So, how are you?" Ryan said in a seemingly innocent way.

Everly, after spending two monstrous years of high school with him, knew better when he seemed innocent. "Confused, actually," Everly started out, and she swear she saw Ryan's ears perk up. She wanted to, but knew better than to roll her eyes at him and walk away. "Because I don't know what the hell is going on," she said, motioning to the crowd around them.

Ryan hid his disappointment. "Apparently, Ms. Reynolds is running a little late, and the janitor can't find the keys to her classroom door," he said in a hushed whisper.

"I thought Mr. Bavarti was our homeroom teacher?" Everly asked.

He shrugged. "Don't ask me," Everly gave him a knowing smile that was laced with years of malice and hate. Everly thought with disdain, Ryan always knew something. "Oh okay, for old times sake," he said lightly. Everly wanted to barf at the thought of it.

"Well, according to Thalia, Mr. Bavarti was caught in a scandalous position with one of Kentington's finest. The parents didn't want to press charges, because of their image, so they made the girl, and Mr. Bavarti disappear."

Everly's eyes widened, and she didn't bother to hide her shock with a fake response "Oh my god, who was the girl?"

But before Ryan could answer, are deep voice forced the crowd into silence. "That's quite enough students, settle down now," it was the voice of Principal Jefferson. Ryan and Everly eyed the rather flushed woman next to him, and they exchanged a knowing glance. "This is Ms. Reynolds, your new AP English teacher,"

A boy from the crowd gave a wolf-whistle. And even as a girl, Everly couldn't deny it, Ms. Reynolds was pretty hot. She had light blonde hair, dark green eyes, and didn't look a day over 25. "Damn," Ryan whispered, and all Everly wanted to do was gag.
