"Hello? Segarra, are you there?"
Segarra pressed herself further against the tree. This must be another beast coming to get her. It was the middle of the day, but that didn't matter. For the past week the beasts had been chasing her day or night.
"Segarra, it's me, Ezri! Please answer."
Segarra's head shot up. Ezri? Did she say Ezri? Is this real? What if it's a beast? But I'm so tired. I need help. With a slight quaver in her voice, Segarra called, "I'm here Ezri! It's Segarra. Where are you?"
"I'm right here, Segarra. Look."
Looking around anxiously, Segarra slowly stepped around the tree she had been behind. She looked like her friend had told her to. At first she saw nothing, but then she saw movement. It really was Ezri! She was just as tall and beautiful as she had been the last time Segarra had seen her.
But something puzzled Segarra. Ezri was not on the mountain. In fact she was walking in a beautiful, wooded valley no where near the mountain Segarra was on. She could also see that Ezri was farther along her trail.
Very confused Segarra called, "How can I see you? You are no where close to here, but I can still see you."
"I don't know how, but you can see everybody. Look Segarra, you can see all of us; your friends!"
Segarra did as her friend told her. It was true! All around her she could see her friends. Not one of them was on the mountain she was on, but she could see them nonetheless. For many of them, she could tell where they were on their different trails. Some she had no idea as to where they were, but she saw them clearly. "I can see them!"
"What have you been doing, Segarra?"
"I am climbing my mountain. It is very hard."
"You only have to trust Daddy and he will help you."
"He is not here though. I can not see him."
"He is always there. Remember he said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you?'"
"Yes, I remember that." The thought gave Segarra hope. "Thank you, Ezri. I had not thought about that in a long time."
"You are welcome! I have to go now. Talk to you some other time!"
"Ok."
"You can always talk to me if you need it."
"I will." Ezri walked on. The meeting had been short, but it was just what Segarra needed then. She felt stronger; stronger than she had felt in weeks. She walked on with determination in her step.
