Chapter 8: Justice
I groaned and shook my head as drops of rain fell onto my face, and sat up slowly, bodies of darkspawn littered the ground and deep black blood poured out of them and seeped into the muddy ground.
Anders sat up and cracked his neck, I winced and looked down at my arm. Three scratches carved through my forearm. I raised an eyebrow and quickly grabbed my pack that was sitting a few feet away.
"Wait." Anders said quietly.
"What?" I raised an eyebrow.
"You're hurt." He looked at my arm, rotating it slightly.
"This? I'm fine." I scoffed as I remembered that night in Redcliffe and the wound that still haunted me to this day.
"I'll just-" I began as I reached for my pack but Anders grabbed my arm.
"Let me," He smiled warmly, I sighed and held out my wounded arm to him, he softly grabbed the area that wasn't scratched with one hand and held his other right over the area.
A soft blue light streamed out of his hand and wrapped in spirals around my arm, I winced slightly and sighed as the pain went away.
"There you are." He smiled and removed his hand, the scratches were gone and no pain came from the area. My eyes widened and I traced the area with my fingertips as if they would appear when I touched it, as if it was a trick.
"Thanks," I said softly and looked up at him, he waved his arm.
"Don't worry about it, let's get the others up." He looked around and chuckled and the moans that came out of Oghren.
"If you ever take me there again, I'm done." Oghren grumbled at me as he cracked his back.
The body of the dead Grey Warden lit up brightly, I jumped backwards and stared at the body.
"Ah, what? What is happening?" It spoke.
"Uh.. I don't think that's supposed to happen." I chortled nervously.
"This is the world of mortals, beyond the Veil! And this.. this is a mortal body of flesh!" The man said as he felt his decaying face, "I am trapped within." He said softly.
"Justice?" Sigrun raised an eyebrow.
"You.. you what?" I asked quickly.
"It is I, the spirit of justice." He responded.
I puffed away a strand of hair off my forehead and placed my hands on my hips, watching Anders stare at the spirit in amazement.
"Is there a way you can get back?" I asked after everyone had time to take in the decaying body talking in front of them, the spirit sighed and looked over at me.
"I shouldn't even be here, there isn't a way I know of." He said quietly.
"Well, what do we call you then?" Sigrun asked happily, beaming up at the spirit.
"How about.." I ran a finger through my hair, "Justice." I said quickly, smiling at the corner of my mouth, the spirit shifted his weight and narrowed his eyes.
"A name? Why?" He arched his eyebrows at me.
"I'm not going to go around calling you 'the spirit of justice' " I chuckled, "It's sort of a mouth-full." I explained after he stared at me for some time.
"I suppose Justice works better than anything else, it is what I am." He sighed and then his head jerked up and he narrowed his eyes.
"The Baroness, she's here." Justice said quickly and shoved past me.
