A/N: It was a freaking b*tch to write this chapter to make sure it was right. I honestly didn't think it would take so long to make this chapter, but I hope the wait was worth it for you readers to read the next chapter of my Naruto/Tokyo Ghoul crossover. I honestly didn't think this story would get over 3k views. Anyways, on to the fanfic!

There will also be another author's note at the end of this.

She held her head in her hands when Hiruzen placed a calming hand on her shoulder, a look of seriousness in his aging irises.

"Hinami-san," he said gently, taking her hands off her head. "This is no dream. You are truly in my village, Konohagakure. And I want you to become a ninja of this village."

Umino Iruka was usually not the suspicious type.

But as a shinobi, he had to be suspicious even of the littlest things that seemed out of place; be it a person or object, shinobi were wired to be automatically dubious.

So when the Hokage introduced a brand new student in the middle of the school year, Fueguchi Hinami, Iruka had his suspicions about the mysterious girl. The Hokage claimed that Fueguchi was an orphan from a very small village near the borders between the Land of Fire and Land of Rivers who had exponential potential in the shinobi arts. He brought the young girl to Konoha because of those supposed skills and enrolled her in the academy in the middle of the school year in the graduating class. Iruka, along with other instructors, were perplexed that she was put in with the graduating students.

Most thought that she would be behind the other students seeing as she didn't come from any clan as most of the other children in the class did. Especially those from the head clans of Konoha, who were taught from a young age in the art of their clans techniques.

But they were proven wrong.

Very wrong.

Hinami proven herself very skilled in manners that all shinobi possessed. She was, however, lacking a bit in ninjutsu training. Other than that, Hinami was going on a level that others considered her a prodigy. That was what got Iruka suspicious of her, wondering how a civilian girl from a small village had been able to be on almost the same level as students who came from clans. It was a mystery that he and every other teacher that was suspicious of her puzzled.

Iruka sighed, running his fingers through his dark locks. His head swam with so many different things, a majority of them containing his suspicions on who Fueguchi Hinami really was.

Was she really an orphan from a small village near the borders of Fire and River?

Or was she in fact an enemy spying on the village?

Whoever she was, his suspicions would have to be postponed for the time being.

He had a class of aspiring young shinobi to teach.

Fueguchi Hinami was a name not unknown to students at the academy.

She was cute, friendly, and very smart.

She had fanboys in all of her classes and was the secret (and not so secret) envy of all her female classmates.
