Hello my dear readers! I thank you for reading this as it is my first ever one-shot! I will warn you now that I am not the best writer. I am simply one hell of a fangirl ;). Love you guys, and I hope you like this! (Btw this is written from Sebby's POV in case you can't tell.)

"The four of you have worked very hard today. As an expression of my gratitude, please retire early tonight."
Those were the words that I had spoken to Tanaka and those other three imbeciles about an hour ago. I was, of course, lying through my teeth when I had said that they had been "working hard". They were, in truth, completely incompetent, except for Tanaka, who sat around drinking green tea all day. I had let them retire at only 9:00 only so that I didn't have to deal with them anymore. I needed to be alone with my thoughts for a while, and did not wish to be interrupted by their acts of foolishness.
Besides washing the supper dishes, I had spent most of the past hour thinking hard about a certain azure-eyed boy. Ever since that day, I knew that I cared for him, but not in the way a butler was supposed to care for his master. I loved him in the same way that he probably would have loved his fiancé, Lady Elizabeth, if the circumstances were completely different. And in any case, I was certain he would never return my feelings. Ciel Phantomhive was not the type of person to fall in love. He was prideful, cold, and calculating, using whoever he could as his pawn to assist in achieving his goal of revenge. I knew that I was only a pawn to him as well. This thought always sent a stab of pain through my chest, so I tried not to dwell on it too much. Still, whether he ever returned my feelings or not, I loved him, and nothing could change that.
Turning away from the sink, I dried my hands and checked my pocket watch. It was now 10:30. Speaking of my young master, it was time to prepare his evening tea. I rolled down the sleeves of my dress shirt and pulled my gloves and tailcoat back on. I prepared the tea quickly and placed it on a tray, grabbing it as I high-tailed it out of the kitchen. Within half a minute, I was knocking on the large oak door to the study.
"Young master," I called. "I have brought your evening tea."
There was no response, only silence. Was the boy ignoring me? Did I do something wrong? At these thoughts, I mentally slapped myself. "Stop being so naïve, Sebastian!" I berated myself fiercely. "Maybe he just didn't hear you is all."
I entered the room silently and discovered why he had not answered. The little lord had fallen asleep at his desk. His head lay on his desk, flanked on either side by stacks of paperwork. His small, delicate mouth was slightly open, and he was snoring softly. His blue-grey hair fell over his closed eyes. The sight was absolutely adorable.
Gently, so I would not wake him, I set the tea tray down, pulled back the chair to his desk and picked him up. I positioned him bridal-style in my arms and headed towards his bedroom. I kept looking down at his delicate face. It was so peaceful while he was asleep, so unlike the pained expression that he usually wore. He looked so adorable, I could not help but place a soft kiss on his forehead. He stirred and the pained expression returned slightly, shattering the peace that had been there. He slowly opened his eyes, confused for a moment at the sensation of being carried. He looked up at me, even more confused.
"Sebastian..." he murmured sleepily.
"Please, go back to sleep, young master," I replied smiling at him. "I am sorry for waking you."
The boy's eyes widened in shock as he realized where he was. I inwardly braced myself for his reaction, expecting him to scowl and yell at me to put him down because he could walk on his own, thank you very much. But the expected did not happen. He wrapped his arms around my neck and leaned his head into my chest. Closing his eyes, he smiled and sighed contentedly. He opened his eyes again and looked at me with an expression that looked almost...loving. No. It couldn't be. Yet there it was, written clearly on his face. It was in his smile, which was actually genuine, finally reaching those beautiful eyes of his. Ciel loved me, just as much as I loved him.
"Young master?" I said puzzledly, awaiting confirmation of my suspicions.
He stared deep into my eyes for a moment, then said something I thought I would never hear from him. "Sebastian, I love you," he said nervously. His smile disappeared and he squeezed his eyes shut, obviously scared of my reaction. His cheeks flushed pink, embarrassed by his own weakness. I smiled. My suspicions had been correct.
"I love you too, my lord," I replied.
Without thinking, I stopped walking and pressed my lips to his in a soft, sweet kiss. To my delight, he immediately kissed back, wrapping his arms tighter around my neck to pull me closer. After a moment we pulled apart, breathless. I chuckled softly as he leaned in for more.
"Young master, it is long past your bedtime," I said as we entered his room. "You need your rest."
"I'm not tired," he replied, stifling a yawn.
I chuckled softly and shook my head.
He smirked at me, a devilish glint in his eye. "What if I won't let you go?" he teased, holding me tighter.
"Must you ask me such difficult questions, my lord?" I teased back. He laughed a beautiful and genuine laugh. It was light and musical, not full of sarcasm as it usually was.
I dressed him in his night clothes, removed his eye patch, and tucked him into bed. As I placed a soft kiss on his forehead and turned to leave, his hand held fast to mine.
"Please, stay with me," Ciel said, his voice soft and child-like. "I don't want to be alone." He blushed again, embarrassed by yet another moment of weakness. It was rather adorable.
Without the slightest hesitation, I removed my tailcoat, gloves and shoes and slid into bed beside him. As I took him into my arms, I whispered to him softly, "As long as I'm here, you will never be alone Ciel. I promise."
He smiled, closed his eyes and snuggled closer. He fell asleep almost instantly.
All through the night, I held the beautiful boy in my arms, and for the first time in three years he slept peacefully, his dreams not tainted by nightmares.
