Ha ha. Bet you guys thought I was done with depressing one-shots. Nope, sorry, I'm back to torture your feels some more >:D
This is a request by rachyrachyrachy and is based on the song "Suicide" by Rihanna. It's one of my favorite songs at the moment and while listening to it, I came up with this.

Alois sighed as he stood on the bridge, leaning against the guardrail. A cool breeze blew his golden locks away from his face. He looked out at the river, seeing the distorted reflection of the night sky as the small waves in the large body of water rippled gently. The sight was beautiful, calming even, but he knew that it was the last time he would see it. Tonight was the night. He'd had enough of the pain, misery, and loneliness. He was going to jump from this bridge to his watery grave.
The flaxen-haired teen climbed up on top of the guardrail. He leaned against the steel support beam next to him, bracing himself for what he was about to do. Thank God it was late, or there would be people who would try and stop him.
He had left a note, giving it to the person that was the reason for the pain he was in: his best friend, Claude Faustus. Alois had been in love with Claude for months, so naturally he was ecstatic when the other teen had told him he loved him at Hannah's party a couple months back. He'd been a little drunk, but that hadn't mattered at the time. When Alois confronted him about it the next day, however, the dark-haired male had denied it, saying he wasn't in his right mind due to the alcohol he had consumed. But, whether Claude denied it or not, he'd still told Alois he loved him, and that was the part the blonde boy couldn't forget.
Ever since that day, Alois had been slipping further and further into the pit of depression. The loud, hyperactive, bubbly, sociable, overly affectionate blonde that everyone knew slowly became more and more subdued. He hardly ever smiled, didn't speak, and the light behind his ice blue eyes was no longer there. In addition, he always kept sleeves pulled over his wrists, and almost never ate anything or went anywhere. Everyone seemed to notice these drastic changes except Claude. He'd avoided Alois ever since the day after that party, foolishly thinking that the lad would just get over him.
Alois knew that he probably should have just let him go, but it seemed like his brain was wired wrong to where the thoughts of Claude kept repeating themselves over and over. They would keep Alois awake at night, making him wish he could just go to sleep. It was taking all his strength just to keep the emotion alive.
Alois sighed again, shaking his head to rid himself of any more thoughts of Claude, or that night. He couldn't chicken out now. He'd come too far. He tensed his leg muscles, preparing himself to jump, when he heard a voice from behind him.
"Alois!" Claude yelled. "What are you doing up there!?"
"You already know if you knew where to find me," Alois replied sadly, not even turning to look at the other lad.
"Alois, please get down," Claude begged, close to tears from seeing his best friend wanting to end his life.
"No," the blonde said flatly. "I'm tired of constantly feeling nothing but pain. I hate the way it feels, and I've had as much as I can take."
At this, the other teen nearly lost it, but managed to regain his composure before he spoke again. "No, please. You can't, Alois. There are too many people who care about you. I am one of them. I know all of the pain and suffering you've been going through is my fault, and if you die I will never forgive myself."
Alois merely sighed. "You should have thought of that before at Hannah's party."
Claude finally swallowed his pride and said what he'd wanted to say ever since his words of denial had fallen from his lips. "Alois, I'm sorry. The only reason I denied what I said that night was because I was scared people bullying me if they found out I was gay. I don't care about their opinions now. All I care about is making sure I walk off of this bridge with you alive." His voice got a bit quieter, but the fair-haired teen could still hear him. "I love you, Alois Trancy. Please don't die before I've had the chance to try and fix you."
Tears welled up in the Trancy boy's eyes at the other's confession. He bit them back to keep his vision clear, then slowly, ever so slowly, climbed down from the ledge. He backed away from it just as slowly until his back hit a warm chest. Alois turned around to see Claude with a look of relief on his face. The flaxen-haired teen couldn't hold back his tears any longer. He threw his arms around the other's neck and sobbed into his shoulder. Claude wrapped one arm around his best friend's waist and the other across his back, slipping a hand into his hair.
"I thought I'd lost you," he murmured as he stroked the blonde locks beneath his fingers. "I thought I was too late." A single tear slipped from Claude's own golden eyes. He held Alois close until his sobs turned to small hiccups.
After a few more minutes, the two teens broke out of their tight embrace. Claude reached over and took Alois' hand, lacing their fingers together. He pressed his lips to the slightly shorter lad's gently, just holding them there for a few seconds before pulling away.
"Let's go back to my house," he said. The other boy nodded, sniffing and wiping his eyes with his free hand.
As the two boys walked off the bridge hand in hand, nine words were exchanged between them. They were fairly simple words, but they changed their relationship completely.
"I love you, Claude."
"I love you too, Alois."
