What We Once Were (Cole Fanfic)

Chapter 7

I remember that I had turned away from her not wanting her to see me in that state, but soon I felt someone's arms wrap around me. I'd be lying if I said that having her so close didn't feel like something missing was finding me again. I started kissing her as if trying to tell her that she was safe in my arms without using words.

Before I knew it we heard something and when we turned around we saw the lifeless body of Seth, who I believe is her guard. I heard a loud gasp and before anything could be said she was at his side. "What did you do?" She was mad and the anger was being directed at me. "You lied." She said and any good emotion she was feeling had gone.

She was coming close again, but this time with pure anger controlling her. "Please calm down." I tried reasoning with her. "I don't know who did this, but I promise it was not me." Nothing was stopping her and I really can't hurt her, but just when she was about to do anything she stopped. 

I wold never forget how her face lost any color it had and slowly that shining light in her eyes turned off. I knew if I looked down I'd see that wooden monster in her chest right where her heart was at. "You...did...this...." was all she could say, but just above a whisper. "No, I swear I had nothing to do with this." I grabbed her and cradled her in my arms not sure of what else I could do. "Just tell me me what I need to do. Please let me help save you. I can't lose you again and not like this." I was crying at this point. I had stopped caring about everything else around us. All I could think of was seeing her and finding a way to save her. 

I knew it was no use when her breathing was getting more light. I held her, "Please talk to me." I whispered in her ear. "I...hate...you." And before I could say anything to her I felt her life escape her body. Her breathing just stopped without warning and I was in utter shock that it had to happen to her like this. Not only that, but to leave thinking I had planned this all along.
