After struggling to stay awake throughout one and a half hours of tutoring, I hopped onto my bed to take a breather. I have never felt so wiped out. Back in Pacific Grove, despite the hours being longer, I have never felt a day so draggy and tiring. At the thought of Pacific Grove, I decided to check how my pals back there were doing. I know I made a vow not to touch any of my electronic devices for a year, but this could be an exception. I reached for the laptop from my side desk and checked if there were any messages.
You have 53 unread messages.
My heart moved by the number of text notifications I received asking how my day was. On a regular basis, I barely got any text messages since we spend our 8 hours in school telling tales of every single thing until there were nothing left to tell. Although learning was also part of the things we did. I got to admit that I felt lucky knowing my friends would always look out for me.
Amelia: Izaaaa how was your first day of school?
Annie: Izza you back yet?
Annie: How are you?
You: HORRIBLE.
Annie: It felt as if you were absent from school and you'll be back as normal tomorrow.
You: Today felt like a temporary dream which I'm gonna wake up any minute now to find myself back in Pacific Grove.
Annie: How are the people there?
You: The kids here are so friendly it makes me hate that place even more. Well, on the bright side, there isn't a single cute boy in my class so I guess I probably won't get distracted.
Annie: I wouldn't be so sure if I were you.
Amelia: You know Izza, I felt so lifeless without you. I sat alone on the floor at the back of the class and Daniel said I looked like a homeless hobo.
You: Gosh Amelia, only the first day without me and you're already turning into a homeless hobo? Oh good grief I can't imagine it.
You: Oh, are there any new kids in our class this year? I mean your class; I keep forgetting it isn't my class anymore.
Amelia: Don't say that Izza, you know Homeroom 4S1 will always be your class. And no, the class just keeps getting smaller and smaller. I won't be surprised if by the end of this year Homeroom 4S1 will be extinct.
You: I liked it that way, so much better than having to deal with 40 other students.
Annie: FORTY? Are you kidding? Dear lord I can't picture myself in a room so packed. It must be horrid.
You: Well, other than having to learn all 40 names (not that I bother), and having 40 pairs of eyeballs on you if you screw up, it could get worse.
Annie: I won't even question the possibilities.
Amelia: I really hope things work out for you there Izza
Yeah, I hoped so too.
Luke sent you a message.
Luke: How was your day grandma?
You: You pretty much just described it. I bet my grandma could've moved faster than my day.
Luke: Come on, it couldn't have been that bad.
You: Yeah, you're right.
You: It was worse.
