Chapter Twelve: Nights With Gabriel

Sam's POV
Late that Night

"Dean, I'm fine." I sigh.
"Are you sure?" He's unimpressed.
"I'm sure. I'm at the hospital with Gabe."
"Why are you at the hospital? What happened? Are you okay?"
"Claire bear go sit with Gabey..." I smile and go back to talking to Dean, "His friend went into labor. I'm staying with Gabe tonight, I'll be fine. I have to help him before Claire kills him." I chuckle.
"Hey, I heard that." Gabe rounds the corner holding a mostly calm Claire.
I smile as Dean says, "He says. Tell me when you get to Castiel and Gabriel's house."
"I promise I will." I smile as the call ends.

We get home late, Anna was in labor late and Sheriff Jody Mills  got to the hospital as soon as she got off work taking Claire from our hands, freeing us to go back home.
"Gabe, you are awesome!" I sleepily mumble forgetting I promised Dean I would tell him when I got home.
"Let's get you to bed big guy you can sleep in my bed and I'll sleep on the couch," Gabe calmly says getting out his blue cased iPhone SE and begins texting some unknown person.
"Sleep with me, please. I don't think I can sleep alone."
"Alright."
Gabe led me upstairs and waited until I got comfortable before crawling in slowly most likely assuming I would change my mind.
"Gabriel, what's your full name?" I ask curious.
"Gabriel Luke Shirley Novak, why?" He makes a confused face.
"Mines Samuel John Adam Winchester."
"You have two middle names."
"So? You have two last names. Why?"
"I was adopted."
"Oh cool." I lean in and place a soft gentle kiss on Gabe's cheek. "Why were you adopted?"
"My mom did some things when I was younger that she's not quite proud of and she lost custody of myself and Balthazar. Balth slept with his foster brother so he couldn't get adopted."
"Why'd he do that?"
"I don't know. He was an idiot."
"I get it. He must've had his reasons. Why were you so short with him earlier?"
"Because he abandoned me and fucked up our chances of having a real family not only that but he deplores my choice of seeing our birth mother, Anna."
"That's really rude of him. He shouldn't have left you and he shouldn't have messed with your dream nor should he be this upset that you want a relationship with the person who birthed you."
"I know. Good night Sammy."
"Good night Gabey."
And then I fell into a dreamless sleep.
