"Ouch!" I yell a little too loud when my knee crashes onto the black pavement on the road.

I'm riding my skateboard around the neighborhood and I keep falling for some reason. Maybe because today is the last day of summer and tomorrow is my first day as an eighth grader. I've heard it's way harder than seventh grade and I've also heard it's just the same.

It's currently 4:23pm. This day has sped by. I decide to ride to Hayes' house and just hang out.

I ride over there to see that mrs. Elizabeth's car isn't there. I decide to knock anyway and thankfully, a bright blue eyed, dark brown haired boy answers the door.

"Hey Jo!" Hayes says a little too excited.

"Hey! Why are you so excited?" I ask while stepping inside.

"Oh, well my mom just got us pizza and then went to work and you know. Pizza." He says and I giggle.

I feel more comfortable in this house than I do in my own. Is that bad?

I walk to the kitchen and grab a slice without asking.

"Oh sure Jo, go ahead. Grab a piece!" Nash says sarcastically.

I just laugh and bite into my piece.

Once I finish my pizza, Skylynn comes trotting downstairs.

"Hi Jo!" She says.

"Hey Skylynn!" I say back.

I hop off the stool I was sitting in and walk over to where Hayes is, which he's laying on the couch. He's literally covering the whole couch.

I move his feet and plop them on the floor. I turn my head and give him a cheesy smile and pay attention to what he's watching.

"What's this?" I ask.

"I have no idea. It seems really cheesy and stupid so I clicked it." He says giggling. I join him and lay my head back against the cushion of the couch.

Apparently I fell asleep because I'm woken up by Hayes and Nash shaking me.

When I open my eyes I'm outside on a chair and Nash, Hayes, and even Skylynn are facing me with a water gun.

"Oh god." I say, my weak body unable to get up.

Before I know it, I'm being drenched with water and they all circle around me getting my whole body wet.

Eventually I'm able to crawl out of the chair and grab a water gun that was just sitting on the table. I soak up some water through the bucket they brought out here and I squirt them back.

About 10 minutes later, we're all drenched head to toe in water and my fingers look like raisins. I pull my hair up into a messy bun and take my top shirt off. Yes, I feel comfortable enough to wear a sports bra in front of Hayes and all the Grier's. It'd be awkward if we liked each other but I don't think he likes me and I don't like him. I think at least.

Anyway, after I dried myself with a towel and grabbed my shirt, it was 6:56 and my mom texted me to tell me to come home because we had to go to Office Depot to get my school supplies.
