Chapter 4 'First Day'

(READ UPDATE FIRST)

I stayed in my room watching vine and YouTube videos until about 10:47pm. I fell asleep around 11 because I was thinking, maybe too much, for about 10 minutes.

My mom woke me up around 6:50am. I ended up waking up around 7:05.

When I finally got up I decided to text Hayes before I got ready.

Jo- Hey, you up?

Hayes- Yeah... I'm totally dreading going to school today. CAN I PLEASE STAY HOME?!

Jo- I KNOW LIKE C'MON MOM

Hayes- Ha! Exactly... so what're you wearing?

Jo- No idea... you?

Hayes- Same. No idea.

Jo- I better go before my mom yells at me.

Hayes- Me too. See ya at prison!

I put my phone back on my bedside table and finally got out of bed. I went to my closet and just grabbed a white tank with a denim vest and some jean shorts. Our school does have a dress code but no one ever follows it.

I went downstairs and saw my mom sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. She's such a mom.

"Hey sweetheart! How'd you sleep?" How is she so happy?

I just stared at her for about 15 seconds and she just looked down.

I grabbed a chocolate chip muffin from the pantry and some water and sat down on the couch and ate my breakfast.

I went upstairs and into my bathroom and brushed my hair and put it into a messy bun. I brushed my teeth and put on eyeliner, mascara, concealer, a little powder, and some Chapstick on.

I put on my brown sandals and went back downstairs.

I went in the kitchen to see my mom wasn't there. But there was a note.

Jo,

Work needed me a little earlier so I got Mrs. Elizabeth to take you to school. I'll be there to pick you up after school but just look for Elizabeth's car outside. Have a great first day!

I grabbed the note and threw it in the trash.

I walked out onto the porch and sat there on my phone looking for Mrs. Elizabeth's car.

When it pulled up at about 7:50, I got up and started walking up the sidewalk.

"Hey Jo!" She said.

"Hey Mrs. Elizabeth!" I said as happy as I could.

I looked at Hayes and he looked half asleep. I just giggled to myself.

I sat down by him and laid my head against the seat.

A few minutes later Mrs. Elizabeth tried to make conversation by saying "So Jo are you excited for the first day?"

But, by that time I was also half asleep.

When we got to prison at about 8:12 Mrs. Elizabeth said/yelled "Hayes! Jo! Get up! The bell rings in 3 minutes!"

We were completely asleep by the way. He was laying on my shoulder and my head was against his head.

My eyes shot open when she said that. I picked up my backpack from in front of me and shook Hayes a little.

"Whaaaaaaatttttt??" He groaned.

"Prison is awaiting our arrival." I said jokingly.

"It can wait a little longer." He said and turned away.
