I didn't know what to say. "Im sorry I asked. it.. it was none of my buisness." I moved back from the counter, feeling so guilty. I let my curiosity run wild and I probably went too far. Asking the wrong question at the wrong time. But then Jace suprized me. "Dont be sorry. I'm actually glad you asked. I dont get to talk about it as much. I go to her house twice a week, give her her flowers and make small talk. I dont see her alot. Shes the only thing I've got left here.."
Wow. He just opened up to me. Say something Chelsea. "Well why dont you see her?" He looked- no, got lost In the flowers as he spoke. "I cant take seeing her so weak. So I avoid going most the time. I know its horrible that I do that but shes my mother, shes always been there." I felt extremely horrible for bringing up this whole subject. For god sakes the man is heart broken. I wanted to comfort him, but resisted since the fact that we've only known eachother for a couple of weeks and the fact that I dont even know if I can call us friends. He looked up at me and smiled. "Im sorry cherry." For what? he didn't do anything wrong. "why are you apologizing? im glad you spoke up. It looks like it was beating you down. I can say.. I feel a little bit closer to you now." he smiled, then looked at the flowers. "She loves your flowers, I mean I had went to the other flower shop across town and she didnt like them saying they werent as special as she wanted them. Theres something about your flowers that make her happy I cant explain it." It was like he adored the fact that she was happy despite if her being home in bed and it would melt any girls heart.
I thought about what I was going to say for a few minutes to see what im about to say wont come off wrong. "Well...", I said, "can I meet my big fan? " Jace was observing his watch as I said it, he stopped, and gave me the biggest pearly white smile I have ever seen. "She would love that.."
