One month later
*ERIN'S POV*
It's been a month. Everyone is saying she's not going to make it.
Kailynn's phone died. I can't listen to her favorite songs. But I don't need to. I remember every word.
I got a text from Kailynn's mom.
I'm outside. We need to go to the hospital.
I ran outside as fast as I could and practically jumped in the car.
At the hospital, Kailynn's mom told me what happened.
Kailynn's eyes fluttered.
She was almost awake.
I ran into the hospital room. I ran all the way up to her bed and stopped. Her eyes fluttered again.
Then, they opened.
Her eyes looked straight into mine. Then I noticed it.
Her eyes didn't have the same light behind them.
And as stupid as that sounds, it's true.
I've always seen a light behind them. But when she woke up, it wasn't there.
They looked so different.
As if she wasn't the same person.
We basically just stared at each other for around 10 minutes.
That's when she asked the question that shattered me.
"Who are you?"
One hour later
"Amnesia." The doctor said. "She has amnesia. She doesn't remember anything except the basic things. Talking, eating, and things like that. She has no memory of any life events or people."
She has no idea who I am. She has no idea what she said to me that day. She has absolutely no idea what we've been through. No idea about anything.
Life, you fucking bitch.
