We got married the next year. October 15th. We chose a really pretty field that over looks the sunset.
The music was playing. The music I had to walk down the aisle to. It was time for me to walk down. So I did. Everyone was standing up. Staring at me. I looked straight ahead. My litte cousin walked in front of me, dropping flower petals. I eventually reached the arch, that Erin was standing at. When everyone was finished coming up here, the music stopped. Erin mouthed 'you look beautiful' to me. Then we said our vows. We slid the wedding bands on each other's fingers. Then we went to the reception. A few of my family members looked tense. But what can I say? I came from a homophobic family. But they couldn't do anything about me and Erin now, huh. After the reception, we went to the hotel room. We changed into our normal clothes, and got something to eat. We slept right after we finished eating. And the next morning, it hit me.
We were married.
Erin and I.
We were married.
Mrs. and Mrs. Black.
Erin and Kailynn Black.
We were married.
Fuck, I wouldn't have ever expected this.
And I feel like every little girl, when they're little, they dream about having a prince. A prince that saves them from something evil. And then the little girl grows up. They either get saved by a prince, and they grow up to be king and queen. But some little girls grow up to be saved by a princess, you know? And they don't ever expect to.
So maybe, life may not go as you plan it.
Let's be honest. As a 23 year old, I was so shocked to be getting married to Erin. As a 15, 16 year old, I was dating Ryan. I expected us to be together for a long time. Forever, to be honest. And then I married Erin. And I think I was about a million times happier than I would have ever been with Ryan.
I landed a teaching job 3 months later. 8th grade English. Erin and I bought our first house together.
When I was 25, we adopted. It was a baby boy, named Lucas. We adopted again 3 years later. Another baby, but this time a girl, named Raegan.
So here we are. Married. 2 kids. Happy.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
