Sapphire's P.O.V.
Sapphire looked at Evan as they walked. He looked a bit cute, to be honest. She was grateful that he saved her, but wondered why her amulet didn't work.
-Flashback-
"May?! What are you doing here!?" Sapphire stared at May."Why are the murderers here!?"
"I told them where you were. I'm working with them, didn't you know?" May's usual happy smile was now a cold dark stare.
"What?" Sapphire couldn't believe May had betrayed her."You... told them where I was?"
May frowned. "Don't you get it? I'm working with them. I always was. Ever since we met, I've been telling them information about you. Now this is where your journey ends."
"Necklace. This could be a good time to light up." Sapphire muttered.
One of the men grabbed her and and twisted it painfully. Sapphire screamed in pain. She tried to wrench her wrist out of the man's grip. Suddenly, a boy came from the bushes and shot the man's leg. He grabbed my other hand and ran through the forest.
They stopped at an abandoned cave.
"Who are you?" Sapphire asked.
"I'm Evan." He said.
"Oh, well thank you Evan for saving me!" Sapphire said. "I'm Sapphire."
"What were you doing with them anyway?" Sapphire's face fell. "They murdered my parents when I was three, and they murdered my aunt yesterday. They've been looking for me since I escaped them. I think they want my amulet." Sapphire explained.
"Don't worry, I won't let them lay a single finger on you! What are you doing here?" Evan asked.
"Going to Vernia. I heard there was an ancient library there. I think there might be a book about my amulet in there." Sapphire explained.
Evan got his things. "It'll take about 3-4 days to get there. We should get going."
"What do you mean 'we'? Its my journey." she asked.
"Well, the men might be back. I'll be there to protect you if they do." He smiled. "Lets get going."
Sapphire knew she shouldn't trust someone she just met so fast. But somewhere in her heart, she felt she could. So she smiled back
"Ok!"
