Charlie POV

Grandma and I were invited to dinner by Mrs. Chambers.

"Charlie!" she hugged me tightly while I entered their house.

"Call me mom again" she smiled proudly.

Grandma folded her arms raising her eyebrow.

"Mom" I smiled nervously.

She screamed hugging herself. Grandma coughed trying to get her attention.

"I'm his grandmother" she glared at her.

"Thank you for taking care of my Charlie" she smiled softly.

"You don't need to thank me child" Grandma looked around the house.

"Grandma..." I whispered glaring at her.

Mrs. Chambers became confused tilting her head looking at me.

"Mason!" I smiled nervously while Mason entered the house with a bored expression.

"Worst extra Chemistry class ever" he sighed.

"Charlie sup" he waved slowly.

"What happened?!" I shook him.

"I can't lick you right now because it would be weird but jumping on you is fine?" I smiled.

"Dude you are heavier and don't think I can handle your weight" he looked disturbed.

"But I do miss having a dog around" he smiled nervously.

I became depressed looking at him.

"But...at least you are my best friend like in the past!" he laughed nervously.

Grandma grabbed my hand.

"We can leave if you want to, I don't like seeing you like this" she said in a serious tone.

"What are you talking about?! He likes being with us" Mason said angrily.

"Guys calm down" Mrs. Chambers looked at me worriedly.

"She's right," I said coldly.

"I feel guilty not being with you guys because I'm not a dog" I looked at my hands.

"Charlie!" Mason clenched his fists.

"I'm fine with you being a human so stop doing this to yourself!" he held my arm.

"You were the boy?!" his voice became shaky remembering seeing me as a human when he lost me.

I froze ignoring his question.

"Answer me!" he said angrily.

"Yes" I spoke softly.

"No wonder you seemed familiar" he sighed.

"Charlie stop this and old lady you have the same problem" he glared at us.

Grandma held her arm trying not to look at us. Mrs. Chambers smiled patting her back.

"It's okay to face our fears" she smirked.

Mason scratched behind my ear.

"Just stop being a dumbass mut" he sighed.

"Yeah" I smiled.

"I made fry chicken!" Mrs. Chambers hugged me.

"Yes!" my eyes sparkled.

Grandma and Mason laughed.
