First story ever. Here we go....... - Smartpie. :)

..................................................................................................................

It was one sunny summer night that the thought overcame me. I was sitting in my backyard reading Pride and Prejudice, and secretly watching the boy next door mow the lawn, when it rushed into my mind with such a suddenness that I stumbled back harshly. It was all so completely reasonable that I felt a wild grin cross my face with anxiety to sustain my plan. I quickly grabbed my phone from my jean pocket and called James, my best friend.

" Hey V, how are you doing?" He says as he answers. I ignore his politeness and get to my point.

" Jamie, we need to talk. Meet me at the park in 20, okay?"

" Okay. See you then." He responds. I end the call and hurry inside my house to grab my wallet. I quickly slip on some chap stick and hurry out the door.

.......................

As I neared the park I saw the silhouette of a person. Jamie. I jog to the spot where he stands.

"Hey V. Are you okay? I was worried the whole way here. Is something wrong?" He asks. I shush him and get at a whispering range.

" Remember Shay?" I ask. His smile contorts into a frown and a sudden seriousness overcomes his face.

" Of course I remember Shay. I will never forgive myself for what we did to her. What about her?" He asks.

" I thought of a way to get rid of her." I pause for a second and then add, "for good."

" What do you mean?" He queries. I pull him closer and whisper into his ear.

" We should burn her." He stumbles back with shock. I grab his hand and reassure him. " It's the only way. It will only be a little while longer before her parents start wondering where she went. I'm telling you. It's the only way. Without a body, there's absolutely no way for the cops to trace the murder back to us." He nods slowly.

" When should we do it?" He asks.

" I think it would be best if we did it this weekend. That way no one comes poking around when we... you know. I'll just tell my mom that we are going camping. There's no way she'll suspect anything. She totally loves you."

" You are right. I'll tell my dad today. You might want to pack extra stuff, you know.. just in case something goes wrong." He explains. I nod.

" The sooner the better. I'll see you then. Call me later for info check. In the meanwhile make sure no one, I repeat myself no one, goes into your shed. Okay?" I say.

" Okay."
