His white, messy hair

I get into my car and throw the case file in the seat next to me and sigh. He's always gotta stick me with the really hard cases or the ones nobody wants to do. I start the car and flip on the radio. I don't know, maybe this won't be so bad.

I drive a couple of miles down the road to a large hospital with many bright trees surrounding every side. It's quite a nice place actually. They have good healthy food, tons of tv channels, they bring in super heroes and other various characters to cheer up the kids.

I park in the pick up area and shut the car off. Outside my window is the area the patients can walk and get a little exercise. There's a tiny child with dark brown hair sitting in the grass observing a small butterfly that landed on a dandelion. It's nice, being able to look and act optimistic like that. I grab the case file and place it in my small suitcase and step out of the car.

As I'm walking to the entrance the small boy from before runs up to me, his hospital robes look way too oversized.

"Hey mister, what are you doing here?"

I smile and crouch down.

"Well I'm here to pick someone up."

I pat his head and open up my suitcase pulling out a small bear.

"Here, I thought you would enjoy this more than I do."

The little boy sees the bear and his eyes light up.

"Wow! Thank you!"

He hugs the bear and runs back over to his nurse and shows him. The nurse smiled and nods to me, I nod back and walk into the hospital.

That bear I gave him, I actually got when I was in the hospital when I was little. My nurse felt bad because my older one was so beat up. I was so close to giving up, I didn't wanna be there any longer. Until she came in with a big smile on her face and a small bear in her arms. It kept me going. I've seen that boy here for a while. I just felt that maybe it would be happier in the arms of someone that would be able to appreciate it at times like these.

I walk up to the counter and ask for the case's room number. They ask me to wait for a minute as they get him ready to leave. I throw my suitcase down next to me and sit down next to the counter.

I look around, there's not many people here at the moment and it's getting rather dark. The hospital is clean and well taken care of with laughter and loud conversations coming from the halls.

It's not always like this though, sometime the hospital is a lot darker. Sometimes you can hear quiet hushed voices saying their good byes, or loud sobbing from the rooms down the halls. Sometimes it's the family, but sometimes it's the patients themselves. I have good and bad memories of this places, but not good or bad feelings about this place. It's just...unsettling.

"Excuse me but he's ready for you too see him."

I smile and nod at the nurse. I crouch down, grab my bag and follow the nurse to his room.

"I'll give you some time, see me at the counter when you are done."

I thank her and step into case #769's room. The white haired boy turns to me and sits silently.

"Ok, uh, I'm Lewis and you'll be living with me for a little while so we better get used to each other."

I walk over to the uncomfortable looking hospital bed and sit in the chair next to it. The room is pretty spacious and everything is in order. He sits up and swings his legs over the bed and stares at me with half open eyes. His legs and arms are wrapped up and he wears a long hospital robe over top it. I sigh and stand up in front of him. He looks up with his same unchanging expression.

"Do you have any proper clothing?"

He shakes his head and looks down at his robes. I can't be for sure, because his expression is almost exactly as before, but he looks a little worried or self couscous. I put a hand on his messy hair. He looks up again, looking slightly confused.

"Don't worry, we'll go shopping and get you some proper clothing."

He nods and stands up, he's very short only about 5'4" where I'm about 6'3".

"Hm? Are you ready to go?"

North nods quickly.

"Where's your stuff."

I ask but he just looks around and then looks back up at me.

"Nothing"

He says quietly and I shake my head in disappointment.

"I'll get you some things, so let's go shopping."

He nods his head rapidly and grabs my hand.

"What are you doing?"

He points to are hands. I roll my eyes and chuckles.

"Well alright let's go."
